I hope that everyone had a great National Running Day yesterday! I loved reading everyone’s posts about why they run. I’ll leave the link-up open until next week, so you can still add your post if you haven’t yet!
So today is Thursday, but it’s actually my Friday because I am heading to Arkansas tomorrow! As usual I will be sharing some of my random thoughts from the week.
1. I mentioned last week that I got a new phone. I think that one of the most annoying things is having to log back into apps. I don’t remember like any of my usernames and passwords. I was in line at Starbucks (at a rest stop) last weekend and I realized I wasn’t logged into my Starbucks app and I had no clue what my name or password was. So I had to pay with cash, when I had like $10 on my Starbucks card. So annoying…and it took me like 15 minutes to reset my password.
2. Ok speaking of which, why are passwords like the most annoying thing in the world? It can never be simple. I know that we don’t want people to be able to get into our accounts but alot of the programs really go overboard. And I end up changing my password so often that I can never remember it, and I get them all mixed up.
3. What the heck is going on with the weather? It’s been like 50 degrees and raining this week. I feel like we haven’t seen the sun in weeks and it’s kind of depressing considering that it’s June.
4. Somehow on Sunday night before the cold front came through it was about a million degrees in my bedroom. I am pretty sure I tossed and turned until like 2 am because it was so hot. 3 hours of sleep does not cut it for me.
5. I didn’t run on Monday or Tuesday, and I can’t even blame it on the lack of sleep. On Monday I got up at my usually early time and started reading blogs and all of a sudden it was 6:15 am and I only had 15 minutes before I needed to start getting ready for work. I have no idea how that happened, and its very unlike me. But I feel like my week is all thrown off because of going away this weekend (and not being able to work out on Friday morning because of an early flight), so I did my strength training workout on Tuesday instead of Wednesday/Friday.
6. Obviously I wouldn’t miss my run on National Running Day! It was nice to be out there after 3 days off.
7. I saw a deer at the end of my run…and we just stared at each other. He was just hanging out on the sidewalk and I was across the street taking a picture. It’s weird because I feel like the deer around here are so used to people that they don’t run away like you’d expect.
8. I signed up for two more races! The first is another local 5k…the other is the Charles St 12!
9. On Sunday I went to lunch with my parents after we got back from NY. I ordered a cherry wheat beer (I wish I remembered what kind it was because it was really good). The the waitress dropped my dad’s iced tea all over my lap, so I got the beer for free. Two days before that, there was a milk incident at school which ended with me having milk all over my jeans to the point where I had to go home and change. It was not a good few days for me!
10. I think the reason why I thought to talk about #9 is because I am craving that beer. Which is unusual for me, but maybe I can figure out a way to make that happen.
Thanks, Amanda!
How has the weather been where you live?
Do you have a hard time remembering passwords?
Do you like beer? What kind is your favorite?
Mondays are very overwhelming for me in the morning with blog stuff so I can see where you got caught up in it and forgot to run! I have to pull myself away Mondays to get my run in and feel much more on top of things if it’s a rest day. Have a great time this weekend! Hopefully no more spills, but good beer anyway 🙂
Sometimes I think that it would be nice to make Mondays my rest day, but I usually like starting out the week with a run.
I never remember passwords! I can’t deal with the number requirement or capital letter requirement. It’s so annoying! I am always clicking forgot password lol.
I hate that when you click that you forgot your password that you have to change it every time! I wish they would just remind you of your old one.
I saw a cherry wheat beer recently, can’t remember the name either, but I was curious about it, and now you have gotten me all beside myself. At 6 am. Jeez, you make me look like an alcoholic.
I’m certainly not judging you:)
Our weather has been pretty wonky as well. It’ll go from being crazy hot to gloomy and chilly, and the wind… OMG THE WIND. It’s been psycho windy here every.single.day, which makes having allergies an absolute misery since everything is blowing around. It’s also been super dry, and while they keep saying that we’re supposed to get some rain, it hasn’t happened yet. Booooo.
Sounds like you guys might have it even worse than us!
We had some cooler weather yesterday here and NC and it felt amazing!! It’s been in the 80s most days and then we had a bad storm Wednesday and Thursday the high was only 68. Much better for my afternoon run 🙂
I use the same password for everything so I really panic when I have to change it!
I definitely don’t mind weather in the 60s as long as its sunny:)
I have to laugh about the whole password thing…where I work, they tell new employees they will have “one” password. Not true…I have about 10 for the various applications we have to use (which don’t talk to each other). It’s crazy and I have to keep a list of all my passwords in my lab coat pocket.
That’s so annoying! I did start writing some of mine down…as discreetly as possible…but thats not ideal either.
I also forget all of my passwords! I really hate it. I know I should be more responsible and write them down and keep them somewhere. I am a pretty organized person but THAT is my dirty little secret…
It seems like we must be experiencing the same weather. It is depressing because this is the last week of school, today is the last STUDENT day, and it doesn’t seem like summer at all. I wish it was hot and sunny out- then it would feel like summer!
I know it definitely doesn’t feel like June or the end of the school year! Looks like the heat will be back this week though.
BEEER. That’s my jam (my friend actually wanted me to call my new blog name “finish line beer”). I can’t wait to have a Boh this weekend!
I’m on my second rest day in a row today because I couldn’t get out of bed. Thankfully I’m just letting myself kinda do whatever until my training plan starts.
Have a great weekend traveling!
That would have been a fun blog name:) Hope you had a great time at the race and got to enjoy some Baltimore beer!
This whole doom-and-gloom rain we had in the Northeast for three days was not a very June-like beginning to the new month – glad it SEEMS to be maybe getting sunnier!
Agreed! June should be hot and sunny so this gloomy weather did not feel right!
It is absolutely impossible for me to remember passwords so I usually make them all the same – ugh so easy to hack haha. The weather is so cold… where did summer go? Haha. Although I will admit I’m not missing the humidity : ) Hope you have a fabulous day !!
I need to be careful for what I wish for because I know I will complain about the humidity all summer!
Oh no! Callum spilled beer all over my lap once and I REEKED. I kept hoping we wouldn’t get pulled over while we were driving home from the restaurant because the whole van smelled like booze. I think beer and milk have got to be the worst things to spill! YUCK! Have a fun weekend!
Oh no! Well, at least you would have a kid with you so its a little easier to explain.
We finally got out from under our rain pattern and we’re now in the 90s. It certainly feels like summer’s coming, which is nice. I promised people I wouldn’t complain about the heat since we were all complaining about the rain.
The weather here has been in the 50s-60s and partly cloudy and I love it. I don’t miss the Midwest heat one bit.
I’m definitely as I said before a beer fan. We’ve been loving Oregon pale ales lately and one a day has become my version of dessert.
Yay for some races! The Charles St 12 sounds really fun!
I would love to drink some beers out there- another reason to visit the west coast!
I skipped my runs on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday as well and honestly, my run yesterday felt so much better. Maybe it’s the weather, maybe my body needed extra sleep, maybe it’s a little bit of everything. I don’t regret it though because I don’t even force my runs anymore! Have a fun weekend in Arkansas!
I don’t think I am ever going to adjust to the summer heat if we keep having these weird cooler weeks. Glad you got in some rest and running felt good for you by the end of the week!
The weather this week has been weird. I forgot how to dress for the cold. Was the cherry wheat beer you had the Flying Dog Supertramp? That’s a Tart Cherry Ale. I love it! Passwords are rediculous. At work I have no less than 100 passwords for various programs and most have to be changed monthly. I think when companies/programs start to get too “password” happy, people start choosing less secure passwords in order to remember and keep track of them.
Yeah! You signed up for Charles Street! See you there!
I have no idea what the beer was- but that name doesn’t ring a bell. I was at Nickel Tavern in Mt Washington and they have a pretty good selection there.
Oh man, once again I wish we could trade weather! It hasn’t been too hot here but is supposed to jump back into the mid-80s just in time for my 10k on Sunday. = ( And I totally agree about passwords! I always have to reset my Starbucks one in particular.
Well this week is supposed to be 90s and humid so I wouldn’t go trading our weather just yet:) Hope your 10k went well!
I am really starting to get depressed with this dreary rainy weather too, it has made me completely lose all motivation to do any kind of working out! It needs to go away ASAP!! As for passwords…uggh, I have to change my work password every 90 days, and I can never remember them!
I have to change my work email alot too and I end up just changing like 1 number so that I don’t completely forget my entire password!
I am the worst at remembering passwords!
At work we have a gazillion passwords so I totally laughed at that part. LOL!
LOVE the deer pic – yours came out much better than mine (maybe it was later/lighter?) … regardless it is really cool. Unfortunately sometimes we see them due to sprawl destroying their living spaces (ok, that just took a sad turn 😉 )
Glad you got out for your run – and totally with you on the weirdness of the weather. Don’t mind it either way, but would like some consistency and/or progression!
Also … yeah on the phone password shuffle thing. I have switched phones 3 times in the last year, plus a few different tablets and a new laptop … it is a royal pain, and I have a well-established password and username scheme so it isn’t about remembering for me … like Amazon apps on iPhone – I think I entered my info 6 or 7 times with everything! Ugh!
When I was at the Verizon store getting my new phone, I was talking to the employee about how apple has the iCloud stuff and the me.com stuff which I never quite understood the difference between the two and would always mess up the passwords and have to reset them.
As for the weather, yes to consistency/progression! The weird weeks of cool/rainy weather are starting to get to me! And everywhere has AC blasting already so I always end up freezing.
Its nice to see the wildlife now that Im not in the city! I do worry that we have taken over their living space, although there is still some wooded area around our development that Im pretty sure they are leaving like that (hopefully).
I am horrible at PW. Hopefully I’ll see you at the Charles Street 12 🙂
Yes! We will have to plan a blogger meet up:)
We are having our usual June gloom here. It’s May gray and then June gloom. Doesn’t get super summery here till mid July.
I have a hard time with passwords too!
That cherry wheat beer sounds awesome!
I think we were having “June gloom” too- its usually sunny and warm here this time of year!
Yeah, thanks to social media reminding me I didn’t miss a run on National Running Day. I am still dying to sign up for a race soon, but I’m not sure what kind. Call me a procrastinator.
I think this week it was almost impossible to forget about national running day if you use social media! Maybe you can do a last minute local race or something; I always think thats fun and makes me feel like theres less pressure.
I can never remember my passwords for things I don’t use everyday. A lot of the times, I guess too many times at what I think it is and end up getting locked out of whatever account I’m trying to get into for a while haha.
We had a really nice May for here. Temps were in the 80’s for most of it, which isn’t the norm, and then this week it was warm during the beginning, and we’re expecting some rain for tomorrow. Definitely a weird start to the summer, but I’ll take it! 🙂
Have a great trip!
Im always getting locked out of accounts! Its so frustrating!
You’re on a roll with signing up for races – I love it! I’m so excited that everyone in the blog world seems to be starting new training cycles right now!
I hate having to log back into apps too. I’m such a big fan of being able to log into things via Facebook or Google. It makes life so much easier!
Its crazy that its already time to start training for fall races!
haha, i’m not a beer drinker – more of a wine gal. unless i’m playing drinking games which happens VERY rarely now (thank goodness!!) 🙂
After I finished my “drinking game phase” I wasn’t into beer for a while- I think because I was used to drinking miller lites and they had no real taste and just reminded me of college. Now I enjoy one or two more flavorful beers and its so much more enjoyable!
Seriously. Passwords are the worst. I don’t how many times I’ve had to reset my Starbucks one because it automatically logs off and I only buy Starbucks once in a blue moon. I feel your pain.
I love any type of beer. Lately we’ve been drinking a lot Two Brothers and Goose Island, which are two local breweries.
I’ll need to look out for those! I usually stick to the same kinds of beers but Im looking to try some new ones this summer!
Passwords drive me nuts!!! I ended up writing most of them down because I am constantly forgetting them!!
I spilled my smoothie ALL over my dress today…I feel your pain!
Ugh I CAN’T STAND that every app ever requires a password now. I have the same problem with not being able to remember them – there’s just too many! I’m constantly resetting my passwords when I need to log back in to an app or website for whatever reason. Can we just make the thumbprint unlock a thing for apps too!?
Totally in agreement over the weather. By Wednesday I was already in a bummed out mood. I was complaining to my bf that I just felt SO SAD, but I couldn’t put my finger on why. He pointed out I’m like this every time it rains or is cloudy for more than 2 days. He’s right. -_-
Charles St! I’ll be there too! I ran into Sara at the 10 miler this morning & said we’ll have to plan a blogger’s meet up afterwards 🙂
We should definitely meet up again after the race! And hopefully this week will bring some sun again:)
