First of all, where did the month of August go?!? I know I say this pretty much every month, but this one really flew by and I don’t even know what I did. On Monday I complained about how busy I was and how I don’t have time for more than one blog post a week, but then I realized this was Runfessions week. I enjoy writing and reading these posts so I couldn’t miss out!
1. Social Media
Not that this is necessary a bad thing, but I have been the worst at social media lately. I don’t go on Instagram or Facebook at work, so I usually post a running picture first thing in the morning and then I don’t go on again until after dinner. I feel like Instagram is just impossible to keep up with by only checking once a day. And if I open to scroll through when I have a few minutes here or there (but not enough time to comment) then the posts I’ve seen are gone. I feel like I’ve somehow been missing out on so many posts that I used to see!
2. Summer running
This was such a great summer of running. Sure it was humid and I complained about it as much as the next person, but this was my first full summer of running since 2015. Being able to run while pregnant made it even more exciting. I really didn’t know what to expect during these months but it’s been going so well and I’m feeling grateful. Now, I feel like I will gladly accept fall running with open arms.
3. Dark mornings
Unfortunately along with the end of summer comes the end of early sunrises. I’ve been back to wearing a headlamp and sometimes the treadmill just seems like a better option. But that’s why it’s there, right? Some days I don’t mind running in the dark but other days I just want to stay inside.
4. Jogging strollers
You would think that as a runner one of the first items I would be registering for would be a jogging stroller, right? I actually don’t even know if I want one..or I might at least want to wait and see how I feel about it after the baby comes. I would just imagine that I’ll probably take advantage of the treadmill quite a bit and I also run so early that I can’t imagine using it most days, maybe just on the weekends.
5. Brooks Levitates
Last year I started running in the Levitates and I loved them. I alternated those with the Pure Flows all winter/spring. Earlier this summer I replaced my Pure Flows and noticed my Levitates were getting to the end of their life. I was waiting for the old models to go on sale, and they finally did around the time the new version came out. However, they didn’t have my size in the really discounted ones which were around $80 on Running Warehouse. The old models in my size I’ve found for $120, and the new versions are $150.. I runfess I just can’t decide what to do. If I’m buying the old ones, I’d hope to get a really good deal. So I can’t help but wonder if I should just spend the extra $30 and get the news ones.

What do you have to runfess this month?
What are your thoughts on the jogging stroller?
Which shoes would you buy?
I’m linking up with Fairytales and Fitness and Running on Happy for the Friday Five 2.0 and Marcia’s Healthy Slice for Runfessions!

I wasn’t running when I had both my kids so I just had a normal stroller and used to walk with it quite a bit – that was the only way I could get them to nap. They both loved it. If I had a third baby, I think I would invest in a running stroller and do a couple of 5k/10k races with them in tow! I have been tempted by other bloggers who have done that! But I say go with what you feel and you could even wait until Baby arrives and make a decision then.
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
It does sound like fun to do races with a stroller- although I’m sure it’s really hard!
Coco says
I’d go for the old model of shoes – especially if they tweak the new one in a bad way! Instagram frustrates me for similar reasons. Is be happier with a chronological feed.
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
I think everyone would prefer a chronological feed on Instagram!

I’m with you on social media! It’s a struggle to keep up with Instagram these days. I have only been blogging 1-2x/week this month as well and that has helped. I can’t believe how busy this month has been. I’m looking forward to things slowing down a bit.
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
Me too! Although I don’t think things will slow down completely until November, and that sounds so far away!

I had the BOB all terrain jog stroller, only because it was on a great sale at REI. I pretty much only used it on weekends and the caveman brought the kids to races in it. It was fun but I didn’t use it a ton. I love that this summer of running was one of your best! Yeah the darkness sucks.
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
Maybe I just need to look into prices to see if it would be worth it. I think I would use it just not a ton.
Sue says
Get the jogging stroller!!! You are going to need a stroller anyway, for several years. There will be times that you will want to get out of the house and go for a run, and maybe nobody will be around to watch the baby. You’ll be so glad you have one.
Sometimes I miss seeing things on social media too, if I don’t comment right away. It’s frustrating when I have to go searching again for something I really want to see.
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
You are probably right that I will be glad to have a jogging stroller. I just really question how much I will use it!
Shathiso says
That is awesome you don’t go on social media. It’s probably so much better for you mentally to leave it majority of the day.
I like to save some money where I can so if possible I’ll buy the older version of the shoe. Most of the time the differences are minor so why not save money.
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
I think I’m jut frustrated that I’m not saving more on the shoes. Knowing that some sizes are available for $30 less is annoying! But still, I’d be saving $30 from the full price new models.

Instagram is so hard to keep up with, it takes so much time.
I love my Brooks running shoes. Favorite pair ever.
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
Brooks are the best! That’s all I wear these days.
Debbie says
I pretty much hate shoe updates. Especially if I love the older model. I need a new pair of my Wave Riders, and they had them but the timing wasn’t right finance-wise, even on sale. I’ll have to hope they still have my size in a month or so. BTW, Roadrunner Sports has a Labor Day sale, you might check it out to see if they have a deal on your shoes.
I’m going to miss the longer days (about the only part of summer I’ll miss!). I really don’t like running in the dark.
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
Thanks for the tip on Roadrunner sports! I think I checked there a few weeks ago but its definitely worth checking again.
Deborah Brooks says
I did not run when my kids are little but we have lots of moms in our MRTT group who run with strollers. It’s hard work to push those things! Social media is hard to keep up for sure but I do love IG.
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
I give so much credit to anyone who runs with a stroller! It seems so intimidating!
meredith @ cookie chrunicles says
I had a jogging stroller but bought it more for the cool toy attached on the tray than any other reason lol. my son barely sat it in for more than 5 minutes without fussing so I never used it much, let alone for running! but the pictures of I have of him in it are cute!
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
Ha! I guess it’s so hard to know how much it will be used/if the baby will like it until you try it out. I’m sure there are other uses for it other than just running, I just can’t decide if it’s worth having one.
Lesley says
Have you looked on Amazon for the old models? Sometimes I have some luck there. I’ve been waiting and waiting on NB for their new models so my current ones can go on sale, and nothing yet. I know by this time last year I was in the new model.
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
Yep, Amazon is where they have my shoes for $120! I was just really hoping I could find them for less since I know other sizes were available for $90 or so on Running Warehouse at one point.
Cari says
I’m with you on the new v. old model. Finally went old when the New Balance Vongo2s dropped to $79 which is slightly more than half the price of the 3s at $135.
Instagram is impossible. I declared amnesty while away
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
It’s all about finding a price that is low enough to justify buying the old version!
Fairytales and fitness says
I forgot it was Runfession week!!!
I did not realize this was your first full summer running! And while pregnant yet, you really rocked it this year girl! Keep it up!
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
Thanks! I’ve missed summer running but I’ve definitely been reminded that it’s not easy.
Cathy says
I would go with the older model shoe, the one that you are use to and works for you. I have found that at times the newer version of the same shoe doesn’t always work for me. That can be very frustrating. I would say get the stroller. My daughter doesn’t run but she likes using the jogging stroller because of its mobility just to go on walks and outings with the family. Great that you had a good summer of running!! Hope it continues into the fall.
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
It sounds like there are alot of other uses for the jogging stroller other than just running! That’s good to know.
Kim G says
I’m the same way about Instagram. I usually check it in the morning before work, during lunch, and then after my evening workout. Lately I’ve been trying to limit my time on it because I don’t want to go down a ‘rabbit hole’ and end up spending an hour looking at random stuff.
Hmm…I’m surprised that the older versions of the Levitates are still over $100 – that’s weird! Hopefully the prices will drop soon.
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
I definitely spend the most time on there in the evenings, and I find that i need to keep refreshing the app to see new posts. And there is still stuff I miss!
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
I’ve been having the same struggle with IG – I feel like I’m missing so many posts.
I think I’d stick with the old model of the shoes – I’ve been burned too many times by shoe manufacturers making little tweaks that completely changes the feel of the shoe.
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
I am a little worried about the new models, but I will have to switch to them eventually!
Rachel says
Social media: couldn’t agree more
Running stroller: wait until the baby comes and decide
Shoes: I’m with you — if they’re still that expensive, get the new ones!
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
Good advice!

I have been the worst about Instagram lately as well – I am not posting often at all. I mostly get on and watch stories. I would probably get a jogging stroller – can they be used as regular strollers when the baby is under six months old as well? One of my friends doesn’t even run, but they still use a jogging stroller for long walks because of the better design.
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
It does sound like the jogging stroller can be used for other things but I’m not sure if it can be used at all before 6 months. We were going to get a regular stroller anyway- the kind that you can just snap the carseat into for convenience. So many decisions!
Kimberly Hatting says
Instagram is really tough to stay “current” with all the postings. I post first thing in the morning, then maybe check it quickly if I have a free minute, but do the bulk of my catching up either at lunch or after I get home from work. And, I know I’m missing a lot of my favorite people…but that’s my reality.
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
Yep! Unless instagram changes how it shows posts then I guess we just have to deal with it!
naima says
I agree you aren’t supposed to push baby in a stroller for jogging until like 5 or 6 months. All jogging strollers have age recommendations. That said, you cannot jog with a regular stroller. They are not built for it and it will be VERY uncomfortable for baby and very hard for you to push and unless you are jogging on a completely flat stable surface it just won’t work. You don’t have to buy an expensive jogging stroller, there are lots of them out there. Just wait it out a bit until the baby is a little older. You have to keep the baby in a car seat or bassinet type stroller at least until it can control it’s head and I think it’s recommended that you keep them in that type of system until they can sit up on their own.
