A Time To Be Thankful (TOL 27)

For the past few week, I’ve been seeing a lot of blog posts and Instagram pictures about things that people are thankful for. Its certainly a good time to reflect on that, and lately my mind has just been in a million other places with being busy, running a marathon, and traveling. Now that things have finally slowed down for a minute, I decided it was a good day for some Thinking Out Loud about being thankful.

The Ability To Run

This is a gift that should never be taken for granted if it is something you love.

A Great Year Of Running

I am beyond grateful for such a wonderful year of running in 2014, but thats a whole other post.

Those Who Support Me

My family who puts up with my running quirks constantly, my friends who don’t really “get” the whole running obsession but support me anyway, my coworkers who at least pretend to care when I talk about running all the time, my blog friends, my chiropractor who not only helps me stay physically healthy but also allows me to vent about all things running….

An Amazing Marathon With a Huge PR

While I can’t really call this the “perfect race” it was pretty darn close. Recap to come one of these days….

A Job That Is Challenging But Rewarding

It also fits well with my running and blogging hobbies, as most days its pretty much an 8:30-4:30ish job. It can be extremely stressful but I really can’t imagine myself doing anything else.

This Guy, Who Puts Up With Way More Than He Signed Up For

Apparently I am not always easy to live with (or run with) 🙂

Blogging And Everything That Goes Along With It

When I started blogging a little over a year ago, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. It took some time but eventually it got more comfortable and it has become a place where I can vent, learn a whole lot, and meet a lot of people with similar running obsessions.

The Things That Make Me a Better Runner

Ok, on a less serious note, but really I am also thankful for things like my foam roller, garmin, compression gear, and nuun. I know that people ran for years and years without this stuff but once you try it, its hard to go without.

Rest And Recovery

How long did it take me to really understand the value of rest? Its still a work in progress with my Type A “go go go” personality. Since Sunday’s marathon I have actually rested. And I will continue to do so until I feel ready to workout again.

Food And Wine

Another not so serious one, but yes I am absolutely thankful for these things:) In my opinion they only enhance the experience of being a runner. But no wine before running, that could be bad.

Thinking-Out-Loud2

Thanks Amanda, for hosting “Thursdays Are For Thinking Out Loud“!

Last week I was contacted by Oscar Insurance to write a post sharing what I am thankful for. I was not compensated, and was planning to write a post about this anyway. They provide health insurance in New York and New Jersey, and more information is available here:

They will also be sharing other #WeAreThankful posts, so be sure to check those out if you are interested!

Gratitude for all we have and all we do is so important as it makes our lives and relationships all that more meaningful. I am so very grateful for the important things from my husband, family, their health to the things I enjoy on a daily basis running, yoga, and wonderful people in my life from family/friends to acquaintances and interactions like with you via blog. Really enjoy your blog. Have a wonderful, peaceful, relaxing Thanksgiving with your husband and family. You deserve it!

I echo several of your thankful thoughts – namely the ability run. Though this summer wasn’t my happiest with running, I’m glad I was still able to do it, that I wasn’t injured, and that Fall brought with it a couple of PRs.
I’m totally going to be treating myself to some things that make me a better runner tomorrow – mainly more warm weather gear so I can continue to run outside this winter!
Also wine is the best 😀
