Favorite Fall Running Products To Try In 2024

Finally, fall is right around the corner! At least that’s what the calendar says. I know in many places we can continue having hot weather well into October. For many runners fall means cooler running weather and races. Now is the time to get ready for race season with fall running products. Here are some favorites to try out this year.

Fall Running Clothes

Brooks Spark Capris

There’s usually a small window for wearing capris each year, including fall! The spark capris are soft and comfortable, and they don’t slide down. I could see myself wearing these around even when I’m not running.

Brooks Luxe Short Sleeve

The luxe line is my favorite! I have a few of these short sleeve t-shirts that I wear all the time for running and more. They are good when the days are getting a bit cooler and can also be used with a jacket on colder runs.

Brooks 3 Pocket Sports Bra

This has been my favorite sports bra from Brooks for almost 4 years now. They made some upgrades which I am loving! To be honest I don’t even use the pockets as much anymore since so many of my shorts have lots of pockets, but I just love the way this fits.

Running Shoes

Hyperion Max 2

These shoes feel light and so responsive! They are perfect for speedwork. Even though I think of them as a speed shoe they can also handle a decent amount of miles. I am pretty sure I will wear these or my Hyperion Max for my upcoming half-marathon.

Ghost Max 2

I started wearing the original Ghost Max when I was returning to running postpartum. I like the feeling of stability with all the cushioning. In this updated version, they still feel soft but also have a GlideRoll rocker that helps you move from landing to toe-off. Even though they have an ultra-stacked cushion it doesn’t feel like you are going to sink into the shoe which is what I always worry about with cushioned running shoes.

Fall Running Gear

Noxgear Tracer 2 Reflective Vest

With darker mornings and evenings, it’s important to stay seen while out running! I love this reflective vest that is rechargeable for any time I am running in the dark.

Noxgear Tracer Chest Lamp

Rather than wearing a headlamp, this strap with lights can be worn around your chest to help you see where you are going. I’ve also used some other clip on lights (these and these).

Coros Heart Rate Monitor

I can’t recommend this heart rate monitor enough. It’s so easy to wear and helps monitor my effort on my runs. While I don’t look at my heart rate much while I am running (sometimes I keep an eye on it on easy runs) it’s really helpful to be able to go back and look at the data on my Coros app.

Coros Heart Rate Monitor Band

I recently switched out the original gray band that came with the HRM for a bright yellow one! They also make it in orange. Hopefully the will come out with more colors at some point.

Hydration and Fueling

Skratch Labs Sports Drink Mix

I feel like I am late to the game on this one, but I’ve been using Skratch Labs on my long runs as a way to get in some additional carbs and electrolytes. It doesn’t have a strong taste and sits well in my stomach. If you are looking for some long run hydration this is worth a try.

LMNT Electrolytes

I also tried a sample pack of LMNT. Some of the flavors I like, others I couldn’t even finish. But this stuff is SALTY! If you are a salty sweater this would be perfect to help you get through your fall race when it may still be hot out. I would definitely recommend trying a sample pack to test out the different flavors.

Skratch Labs Energy Chews

Since I get tired of taking alot of gels on my long runs I like to mix it up with energy chews when I can. I’ve really liked these Skratch Lab chews. They are smaller that some of the other chews I’ve tried and you get about 10 in a pack which is 2 servings. I eat 5 at a time at my regular 20-30 minute fueling intervals.

I remember you talking about that 3 Pocket Sports Bra a while back. It does look very comfortable, even if you don’t use the pockets!
All the best with your half-marathon! When will it be?

Our heat certainly hasn’t let up yet. It’s supposed to be 116 today and 118 tomorrow! I just wish the mornings would cool off, I’m so tired of it being close to 90 even at 6 am.
I love my Noxgear vest. I still have the original so it isn’t rechargeable but it works just fine. And I can’t do without the chest lamp. I don’t like headlamps so it is great not to have to!

I have two new pairs of Topos that I’m inching to try.

Good luck with your fall running.

No matter how much I wish for it, it’s not going to feel like fall here for a few more weeks. Or months. Sigh. Capris are a no go unless I’m in the gym at this point.

Listened to Life of a Showgirl on the treadmill and had some podcasts saved for my outside run but couldn’t get my headphones to connect. This was challenging by the end and I kept thinking how hard it would be if I needed to run another 7 miles today (and all miles at a faster pace) but this is why we train. The long runs are getting longer, and I’m slowly feeling like my fitness is building. I can’t believe that by the time October is over I’ll be getting ready to taper for the marathon! Let’s hope October brings lots of good miles and maybe some cooler weather. Was September a good month of running for you? #september #marathontraining #running
