Fall Running Products to Try in 2025

It’s been awhile since I shared some of my favorite running gear, so this seemed like a good time to do a roundup of fall running products. And some of these can be used all year, but fall is a great time to try them out, especially as so many runners are training for races!

We had a super hot summer, and it’s finally started to cool off just a bit recently. It’s that time of year when you may be wearing a tank top one day and a jacket the next (at least here in Maryland). So it’s good to have a wide range of items ready to go!

This seems like a good time to do a roundup of fall running products. And some of these can be used all year, but fall is a great time to try them out, especially as so many runners are training for races!

Fall Running Products To Try In 2025

Fall Running Clothes

Brooks Spark Capris

There’s usually a small window for wearing capris each year, including fall! The spark capris are soft and comfortable, and they don’t slide down. Sometimes I even wear these around when I’m not running.

Brooks Luxe Short Sleeve

The luxe line is my favorite! I have a few of these short sleeve t-shirts that I wear all the time for running and more. They are good when the days are getting a bit cooler and can also be used with a jacket on colder runs. I recently got the long sleeve too, which I think will be perfect for cooler days!

Luxe Pocket Bra

For years I’ve raved about the 3 pocket bra, but unfortunately that has been discontinued. The Luxe pocket bra is a similar style. The material is thicker and the sizing is a little different. I used the sizing guide and my own measurements and that worked well for me. So far I like it alot and think its a good alternative to the 3 pocket bra! I don’t usually put my phone in the pocket (I use a flip belt) but it does seem easy to get a phone in and out of this pocket.

Spark 8″ Short Tights

On days when it’s still warm enough for shorts, these are my go-tos for long runs and races. There are lots of pockets and they don’t chafe. These come in different lengths as well, but in the fall I like some extra coverage. (Plus, it reduces the chances of any chafing).

Running Shoes

Lululemon Split Shift

If you have been following me for awhile you may be surprised to see a shoe on here that is not Brooks. I recently had the opportunity to review these shoes for Run to the Finish and I was really impressed with them! They have become a regular part of my shoe rotation and I wear them for easy runs and tempo runs. The longest I have done in them is 8 miles, but I am confident they could handle more.

Hyperion Max 2

These shoes are very light and so responsive! They are perfect for speedwork and races. Even though I think of them as a speed shoe they can also handle a decent amount of miles. I wore these for my marathon last fall and for several other races, including 2 half marathons. The Hyperion Max 3s came out recently and I’ve heard good things about them. I am planning to try those soon, so stay tuned!

Glycerin 22

The Glycerin 22 have become my favorite long run shoe lately. They have just enough cushioning to feel soft without feeling heavy.

Fall Running Gear

Noxgear Tracer 2 Reflective Vest

With darker mornings and evenings, it’s important to stay seen while out running! I love this reflective vest that is rechargeable for any time I am running in the dark.

Noxgear Tracer Chest Lamp

Rather than wearing a headlamp, this strap with lights can be worn around your chest to help you see where you are going. I’ve also used some other clip on lights (these and these).

Coros Heart Rate Monitor

I can’t recommend this heart rate monitor enough. It’s so easy to wear and helps monitor my effort on my runs. While I don’t look at my heart rate much while I am running (sometimes I keep an eye on it on easy runs) it’s really helpful to be able to go back and look at the data on my running app.

Coros Heart Rate Monitor Band

I switched out the original gray band that came with the HRM for a bright yellow one! They also make it in orange. I am hoping they will come out with more colors at some point.

Hydration and Fueling

Skratch Labs Sports Drink Mix

I feel like I am late to the game on this one, but I’ve been using Skratch Labs on my long runs as a way to get in some additional carbs and electrolytes. It doesn’t have a strong taste and sits well in my stomach. If you are looking for some long run hydration this is worth a try.

Tailwind High Carb Fuel

As I have been marathon training this fall I’ve been experimenting with different ways to get in enough carbs on my long runs. Tailwind High Carb Fuel has 90 g of carbs, which eliminates the need for several gels! I’ve had no stomach issues with this either, which is a huge win.

Carbs Fuel Energy Gel

I’ve also been using Carbs Fuel gels which have 50 g of carbs. This makes it easier to hit my fueling goals when I don’t need to take gels as often! They have a pretty plain taste but it does feel like alot of gel (its kind of a big packet) but also the price is decent for such a high carb gel.

My gear drawer is practically begging me not to read posts like this, ha!
I didn’t know Lululemon had shoes, too. Their Split Shift sounds interesting
    — didn’t expect to see you branching out from Brooks!
Interesting also about the gels, I always stick with Maurten but it would be a nice change to try something else.

Great roundup! I”ll check back in winter because event though it’s “fall” we still use our spring and summer gear. It’s just not quite yet cold enough for the real cold weather stuff!

19 miles! 7 on the treadmill, 12 outside, 1,272 to 19 miles! 7 on the treadmill, 12 outside, 1,272 total feet of elevation gain. Amazing weather. Listened to Life of a Showgirl on the treadmill and had some podcasts saved for my outside run but couldn’t get my headphones to connect. This was challenging by the end and I kept thinking how hard it would be if I needed to run another 7 miles today (and all miles at a faster pace) but this is why we train. Feeling like I’m in a good place with 6 weeks to go! How was your run today? #run #marathontraining #longrun
