Feeling Like Fall

This week we had rain, cooler weather, and wind. It’s really feeling like fall around here! I’m guessing this will last about a week before we are hit with winter weather. For now I’m trying to enjoy the scenery and good running weather. Although I could do without the rain and wind!

I actually started out the week on the treadmill thanks to the rain. And Saturday’s run was pretty tough with 18mph winds, especially in one direction. There were a few nice days thrown in there so that’s what I’ll try to focus on. And overall, it was another really good week of running so I’ll take it!

It only took until the middle of November, but it's finally feeling like fall around here. That also means lots of rain and wind! Click post to read about last week's workouts at 33 weeks pregnant. #running #fall #pregnancy

Monday: 6 miles (treadmill)

I haven’t been running on the treadmill much lately so it’s been tough mentally to get through runs on there. I mapped out a route through NYC (after the NYC marathon was the previous day).

treadmill run

Tuesday: 4 miles + Strength training

Another treadmill run, followed by the first workout of my new strength training plan. I’ve had to use much less weight than before but I still think the strength training has been really beneficial!

tuesday run

Wednesday: 6 miles

This was a good run, which is probably why I don’t remember much about it!

Thursday: 4 miles + Strength training

Another day of good running weather and another strength training workout.

Thursday run

Friday: 7 miles

I did my longest run of the week on Friday morning which turned out to be a great plan thanks to the wind on Saturday. I was probably a little overdressed but starting out I felt chilly.

friday 7 miles

Saturday: 4 miles

This was such a windy run! I did an out and back, and the first half was into a headwind. I forgot how hard it is to run into the wind! Throughout the first half I just kept reminding myself it would be easier on the way back. To make matters worse, this route is slightly uphill during the first half. The way back wasn’t as easy as I expected. I think it was just one of those days where the wind was sort of blowing in all directions.

saturday run

Sunday: Rest day

It only took until the second week in November, but it seems fall weather is really here now. I wonder how long this will last? I still can’t believe Thanksgiving is less than two weeks away. This year is just flying by!

When it’s windy I will always make sure the first half is into the wind so the second half feels easier haha.

Crazy that Thanksgiving is next week! Someone on the radio didn’t believe the cohost when he said it today. It seems like it should be farther away.

I feel like November really snuck up on me so its definitely hard to believe that we are just over a week from Thanksgiving!

Will this be a Christmas baby? I’m always amazed how I can feel the wind when running into it, but I never can tell when it’s at my back. The running is never any easier either. 😉 You are so fit right now as you head into the final weeks of pregnancy! I suspect you will recover quickly and be on the road running with a stroller in no time at all! Thanks for linking!

Could be a Christmas baby…I’m due on 12/23! I totally agree about the wind. It seems to make a run tougher in all directions somehow!

I bet it feels good to be running in cooler temps! But no thanks to the wind, that’s for sure!

    Have a great week, Lisa!

I am definitely still enjoying the cooler weather, but the wind- not so much! Now if we can just somehow avoid that winter weather that you guys seem to have already…

I hate running in the wind! it’s been cold here, I hope it’s not a sign that winter will be brutal like last year.

Agreed! I’ve heard some people say that it will be a mild winter and others that it will be a bad winter. So I’m not sure what will happen!

You’re feeling like fall and we’ve slipped into winter. The single digit wind chill really threw me. The wind is like ice. I like winter but I’m not ready. I may be milling it tomorrow!

I’m not ready either! I feel like fall just arrived so I’d like it to stick around for at least a couple more weeks.

Great job out there, the wind was not fun to deal with this past week! I didn’t do any outdoor workouts since I’m dreading feeling that cold air…I’m not ready!

It’s kind of a shock after having such warm weather for so long!

I think we had about two (maybe three, tops) months of actual feels-like fall weather in Iowa. We’re already experiencing winter-like temps, and it’s pretty annoying. Granted, we get a substantial winter in Iowa, so I know that routine, but I prefer winter-like temps in actual winter months, you know?

    • Lisa @ Mile By Mile says

      November 12, 2018 at 6:31 pm

Yep, I totally know what you mean! I feel like we haven’t even had a month of fall yet so I’m hoping winter stays away for a bit longer.

oops!!!! I meant to say “weeks,” not “months” LOL It has been a VERY short (almost non-existent) autumn in Iowa 😉

The wind is brutal – great job getting out there! Our wind chills have been consistently ten degrees or more colder than the real temperature because of the wind. It feels like winter now, and we even have snow!

      November 15, 2018 at 11:43 am

It’s crazy how fast the colder weather seems to have snuck up on us! We have snow today, so I guess winter is here!

Just saw your due date on the response you gave to Holly! Yay, for Maybe Christmas Baby! My nephew’s birthday is 23rd Dec 🙂 Well done on these runs – you are still doing so well! I love the fact I have a treadmill for those bad weather days, but boy oh boy do I struggle when I’m forced to hop on!

    • Lisa @ Mile By Mile says

      November 15, 2018 at 11:44 am

The treadmill is definitely a nice option to have when the weather is bad! I feel kind of bad that I’m due so close to Christmas. I know a lot of kids feel like their birthdays get skipped when its close to a holiday! We’re thinking of trying to celebrate at another time of year or something.
