My Favorite Running Accessories

Here are some of my favorite running accessories:

Garmin Forerunner 405

garmin

I am completely addicted to this running watch. Garmin just came out with 2 new watches that have some really cool features, but they’re kind of pricey!

Saucony Run Lux Shorts

I have two pairs of these. They’re comfortable, have a nice pocket on the side, and don’t squeeze too tight around the waist.

Procompression socks

compression socks

These come in lots of fun colors and designs, and procompression always has a deal on the “sock of the month”. I also have a pair of CEP compression socks which I prefer for recovering from a run (I like to run  in the procompression socks).

Brooks Running Shoes

Camelbak Annadel 50 oz

camelbak

This has saved my life on so many of my long runs this summer. Sometimes I have needed a little more water on really sweaty days but usually 50 oz is plenty.

Camelback Quick Grip Podium Chill

handheld

I use this on shorter runs when I still want to bring something to drink. I also like that I can store some things in the pocket like gels or keys. Also, this bottle helps to keep my water cold.

Tune Band for Iphone and Phillips Headphones

music

I don’t love having my phone on my arm while I run, but when I bring it this works well enough. (When I do a long run with my camelback annadel I keep my phone in there).

Also, I need headphones that loop around my ear and I never have a problem with these. They’re only like $9 and don’t last too long but since they are cheap I don’t mind replacing them a couple times a year.

Honey stinger waffles

I usually either eat a half or a whole one of these before early runs during the week. I find that I can eat them and start running right away without needing to digest. I like eating a little something before I run and I have found these work really well for me.

Gu Energy Gels

gu

During long runs I usually take a packet of Gu about once per hour. I like peanut butter, tri berry, jet blackberry, and mint chocolate.

Road ID

road id

I think this is probably the most important running accessory! For $20 it is well worth it and now I put it on before every run without even thinking about it- Garmin on one wrist, road ID on the other!

Great post! I have been considering a few of these things, especially the marathon stick, and really enjoyed hearing your review. I am not quite up to the distance that I would need energy gels, but I will be soon, so I have been looking into what is good. Thanks for the recommendations!

You don’t know the life of a runnergirl, babe. J You don’t know the life of a runnergirl, babe. Just living that 3:30am alarm clock life and chugging gels like it’s my job. #longrun #marathontraining #lifeofashowgirl

19 miles! 7 on the treadmill, 12 outside, 1,272 to 19 miles! 7 on the treadmill, 12 outside, 1,272 total feet of elevation gain. Amazing weather. Listened to Life of a Showgirl on the treadmill and had some podcasts saved for my outside run but couldn’t get my headphones to connect. This was challenging by the end and I kept thinking how hard it would be if I needed to run another 7 miles today (and all miles at a faster pace) but this is why we train. Feeling like I’m in a good place with 6 weeks to go! How was your run today? #run #marathontraining #longrun
