The Final Week of Rundestober

I made it through my final week of Rundestober, which was my run streak for October! (Plus the 5 days I ran at the end of September). Our weather this week was not great and I was on the treadmill more than I would have liked. Considering we had great weather the rest of this month, I can’t really complain. Let’s take a look at how the week went.

This was the final week of Rundrestober and my runsreak for October. Here's how my workouts went and how we celebrated Halloween.

The Final Week of Rundestober

Monday: Strength Training + 3 Treadmill Miles
Tuesday: 4.2 Stroller Miles + Core
Wednesday: Strength Training + 3.6 Stroller Miles
Thursday: 5 Treadmill Miles + Core/Hips/Glutes
Friday: 9.6 Treadmill Miles
Saturday: 4 Miles + Core
Sunday: REST!

Easy Running

After doing 2 virtual races last week, this week was all about easy miles! My legs held up really well but there was no reason to push it. Sometimes I find it’s easier to keep my pace easy on the treadmill, so I guess that was the silver lining of running on there.

Treadmill Miles

We had quite a bit of rain this week. While I don’t mind running in the rain, some days it was easier to run on the treadmill, especially early in the morning when it’s dark out. It also just saves some times since I don’t need to get dressed in a whole bunch of layers.treadmill run

During my run on Monday the treadmill program I use, iFit, kept freezing. I think it’s because my WiFi in my basement isn’ great. I would be running along a route and then it would freeze for like 10 minutes and I would be staring at the same stretch of road. After that we reset the router and it was much better! I don’t think I would have survived my long run on there if it was still happening.

Halloween

I’ve never really been into Halloween, but I guess now that I have a kid I need to get on board. (He’s still too young to really get it yet.) Brooks encouraged us to dress up using their gear, so I dressed as Des Linden, who runs for Brooks. She loves coffee and whiskey, so I made a reel showing how she might spend her day.

On Halloween I didn’t dress up. Grayson was Spiderman in the morning and a dragon in the afternoon. We made individual baggies of pieces of candy and put them on a table at the end of our driveway. We had much less kids come by than usual  and it seemed like everyone was being as safe as possible. It was a weird way to do Halloween, but it worked!

I’m gonna keep this post pretty short because I’ve been having lots of WordPress issues this weekend. Gotta love technology!

Glad you got your post and wordpress issues figured out. I did not have any issues with the update this time. Love the Des costume. We did have a kind of crappy weather week but this week ahead looks good and warmer. Have a good one!

I’m looking forward to some better weather this week! I’m not ready for winter yet!

Your costume just cracked me up, especially when you poured the whiskey! Gotta love Des. She’s so normal! Except really, really fast.

Congrats on a great month of miles!

Awesome job making it through Rundestober! I love your Des costume – you nailed it, especially with the whiskey, LOL! Grayson made a very cute dragon too!

Thank you! Halloween can be fun-I just wish I was more creative!

Nope, no challenges at all for me in October. Yes, the weather wasn’t too nice (except on Halloween) this week, but yes, for most of the month it was stunning!

We’re having trouble with our modem right now, having to reset it like every 5 minutes. Always something. Grayson looks adorable!

Thankfully I’ve never been really into Halloween, for obvious reasons it was not a good day for us.

It was pretty chilly here on Halloween. The past few days have been rainy/overcast so it feels even colder than it would if it were sunny.

Such a cute dragon. NIcely done with Destober and Des twinning. I want the buff she was running with yesterday and hope Brooks makes it available to the public

Great job on the Rundestober challenge! Impressive miles. I totally agree that running in the rain isn’t much fun, especially this time of year. I’m not a huge fan of it in warm weather, but I can handle it if the temps are at least in the 70’s LOL Technology is a nightmare for me…

If its raining I prefer for it to be warm and light out. So cold, dark, and rainy just didn’t sound good last week.

Gotta love technology! Ha, it seems like either I or one of my students has an issue with it every day.

I am not a big fan of Halloween but I only like it because of my students. They’re happy so I am happy.

I like the rain only when it is warm outside. Windy, rain, and cold weather is not a good combo for me for running.

Totally agree on the rain! An it must be nice seeing your students’ excitement over Halloween.

Boo to technology! I have a lot of movies saved on my laptop just in case the internet gets fiesty while I’m working out. Halloween was great fun. We set up a candy chute on the porch. My youngest stepson is “too old” for such nonsense but his brother isn’t and I’m sure that he logged more steps in two hours than I did on my 8 mile run that day.

The candy chute sounds like fun! Glad you had a good Halloween!

Love your little dragon! And your Des reels! Too funny. I did my Peloton Coretober challenge, which has really become a habit. We had an odd October with a lot of nice weather with some miserable days sprinkled in. November is off to a crazy start too.

Yes it is! I don’t know why I’m surprised though, since we always have crazy weather. Great job with your coretober challenge!

    So fun!

We had a nice Halloween outside with our neighbors. The kids got dressed up (so did I), and they did a little trick or treating. It was a quiet night, but it was also fun, and just what we needed.

      November 2, 2020 at 1:59 pm

Sounds perfect! I was glad our neighborhood was able to do something for the kids safely.

Yes a crappy weather week but I don’t own a treadmill and managed to get most of my runs in.

Today it is insanely windy…don’t think I can make myself go out there.

Love the DES costume – great idea.

Halloween was low key…didn’t even have any trick or treaters.

It was really windy here today too. My only option for running was early this morning so I just got in done on the treadmill again. Its not my favorite but it works.

I got a kick out of your Des IG reel 😉

Nice job on all those treadmill miles and your run streak!

Our neighborhood had a Halloween parade for the little kids otherwise it was totally quiet. It felt odd not to have trick or treaters but I don’t miss having candy in the house – I would just eat it!

    • Lisa @ Mile By Mile says

      November 2, 2020 at 8:12 pm

Well we bought candy but didn’t give it all out! So now we have a ton leftover!

The Des costume was good! I met her in Boston and at the time didn’t know much about her. So I checked wiki on my phone and came up with whiskey and collecting tapestries! She said something about how the press picked up on the tapestries and wasn’t sure how they stuck on that. She thought it was odd too!

      November 3, 2020 at 4:23 am

Haha that’s funny! I know she shares on instagram that she drinks whiskey but I’ve never heard the tapestry thing.

Omg G is so cute! And I love your version of Desi! So fun. We had one tiny tot trick or treater. She was so young I wondered why her parents took her out, especially to a different neighborhood. I’m sure she didn’t care either way.

    • Lisa @ Mile By Mile says

      November 4, 2020 at 7:41 pm

Oh that’s interesting. We definitely didn’t feel the need to go trick or treating. Hopefully next year things will be a little more normal.

  15. Debbie @ Deb Runs says

    November 4, 2020 at 7:45 pm

Our neighborhood Halloween was very similar with individually Ziplocked bags of treats on a table at the end of the driveway. Our neighborhood had a parade so the parents were all out and it was a lot more fun that usual (I don’t really get into Halloween, either). I made up 40 bags and we probably needed about 35, so I gave away doubles to a few lucky kids. 🙂

      November 4, 2020 at 8:02 pm

Wow you were pretty close with making the right amount of bags! We made 300 (!!) and gave out about 100. We have lots left over. And its not even very good candy:/

19 miles! 7 on the treadmill, 12 outside, 1,272 to 19 miles! 7 on the treadmill, 12 outside, 1,272 total feet of elevation gain. Amazing weather. Listened to Life of a Showgirl on the treadmill and had some podcasts saved for my outside run but couldn’t get my headphones to connect. This was challenging by the end and I kept thinking how hard it would be if I needed to run another 7 miles today (and all miles at a faster pace) but this is why we train.
