Is anyone else in denial that Christmas is only 10 days away? I feel like it should still be September! Considering we have already had snow this year, I guess I need to accept that winter and the holidays are here.
I think I am all done with my shopping which is exciting. I am usually still looking for gifts the week before Christmas. I think it helped to start early and devote a few hours to shopping (online of course) and wrapping each weekend. I have a few more gifts to wrap this weekend but that’s about it!
One thing that made shopping this year a little easier was that Rob and I set a limit and agree to not spend as much as usual on each other. The first reason is because we really don’t need anything. The second reason is because we bought ourselves a treadmill! This is kind of like our Christmas gift to ourselves. It’s still nice to open some surprises on Christmas morning but this is our main gift.
We are still waiting to hear when it will be delivered, but I am cancelling my gym membership and will use the treadmill when the weather is bad and and the bike for cross training. I feel like our home gym will be complete now! (I do still want to build up our weight selection, but there’s no rush on that.)
I am wondering how I will like having a treadmill at home. Will I run more because it’s so convenient? Will I still prefer running outside and only run on it when absolutely necessary? Will I become one of those runners who ONLY runs on a treadmill?
I’ll let you know when it comes and how I like it!
Even if I’m not really ready for winter, I’m always ready for holiday food. Ever since Thanksgiving I’ve been seeing all these holiday recipes but haven’t tried any of them. Now that Christmas is right around the corner, it’s time to get on this before the opportunity passes! I’m hoping to try a few of these recipes this weekend or next.

Are there any holiday recipes you are planning to make this month?
Do you have a treadmill? Do you run more indoors or outdoors?
Are you done with your holiday shopping?
Linking up with Lacey, Meranda, and Rachel for the Friday Five 2.0!
Your tree is beautiful! The Gingerbread muffins look delicious, and in that recipe, there was another recipe for Chocolate Banana muffins that look delicious too! We used to have a treadmill, and I remember the day it was delivered, it was pouring rain, so I was excited to use it, and not have to go outside for my run. We used it for sure, but I still ran outside as much as I could. I am just about done shopping, and wrapped too! Have a great weekend, Lisa!
On a day like today I am wishing we already had a treadmill! I’m sure I will use it pretty often but still run outside. Hope you have a great weekend too!
I use my treadmill a lot less than I used to but still love having it as an option. Especially for interval workouts or shorter runs. I’m sure you’ll love it.
I’m sure it will be a good option to have, especially in the winter!
I think a treadmill is a great investment. You will be very happy with your purchase. I have been using mine a lot lately. I do have a problem with running consistently on it. I do a lot of interval. Watching a tv show always helps pass the time as well. Those recipes sound tasty. I love the butternut squash soup from Panera, but I never tied making it myself.
I tend to do more intervals when I run on treadmills too. I wonder if that will change when I have my own.
congrats on the new treadmill. I don’t use mine that often but I am always glad that I have it for snowy days or crazy hot days
I have a feeling I will use it a lot during the winter!
Congrats on the mill! It’s a wonderful option to have. Mine is almost 17 years old, and knock wood, still going strong despite many, many miles. Shopping here is mostly done, although Ozzypup chewed up some of the gifts last night. Ugh!
Wow, 17 years is a long time to have a treadmill! Thats great!
One day we will have room for an actual tree. I would say that this might be the last christmas before we have to make a big deal about Christmas, so it is going to be low key up in here.
It’s been nice to have an actual tree now that we are in a house with more space, but we bought an artificial one the first year we were moved in. We have no patience for real trees or untangling lights.
Paul and I are keeping it small this year too because lately when we want something, we just buy it! I got him a nice wine he likes and a Tesla sweatshirt. I was going to get him a massage too (that would’ve been expensive) but his mom is doing that instead- score!
Your tree looks beautiful!
That worked out well!
Thank you!
A treadmill is an excellent gift! I would imagine is a better motivation to run at home.
I am almost done with shopping, I have a big family, but I’m happy with everything I have for them.
Have a good holiday! I will for sure be making peppermint bark.
Nice job getting all your shopping done! Its a nice feeling to know its complete.
I love having my treadmill for convenience. I’ll still run outside when the weather is nice, and we move back to DST. Right now I just walk downstairs to the treadmill. I’m kind of switched from your situation: I got the treadmill first, and I want a bike to complete the equipment aspect.
I agree it sounds so convenient to have a treadmill at home. It worked out to have the bike while I was dealing with my foot injury. Last year I would have had a hard time justifying a treadmill purchase.
My husband and I always put a limit on how much we spend for each other, but we both usually go over! I have a treadmill but I only use it if there’s no way I can run outside.
This is the first year we set an official limit but I think we will both go a little over. It’s hard to not get something if you think the other person will like it!
You know I don’t love running on the treadmill, but I am glad to have it when I need it!
It’s a good option to have, especially in the winter!
LOL – I love that treadmill meme. It’s definitely a love/hate relationship, that’s for sure.
I usually have a budget in my head for everyone that I need to buy gifts for. When I buy a gift, I write it down in my notebook so I can see how much and what I’ve purchased – it helps keep me on track.
I do the same thing! Otherwise I would forget what I bought and how much I spent.
that’s so exciting about the treadmill! you will make excellent use of it for those mornings when it’s super cold, snowing or raining. It’s a great option to have!
It would have been nice to have it already for this week!
Very exciting purchase! You probably know that I’m “team treadmill” and LOVE my treadmill 🙂 I think it’s super convenient. Like you mentioned, I do get in the habit of running on my treadmill a bit too much, but it’s all good – at least I’m exercising! The new thing we are getting for our home gym is a spin bike! I think it’s the same model as yours. Does your have a belt, or a chain? I’m not sure which to get. Any advice on that?
Honestly I think I will run on it a lot this winter especially because it will be new and exciting, but I am totally ok with that!
For our spin bike we have a belt. We don’t use the bike a ton (each of us uses it about once a week for 30-45 minutes) but it hasn’t given us any problems in the past 14 months! I think its a good bike for the price.
