Weekly Run Down and a 9 month Birthday

Now that the Charles Street 12 is over I am not training for anything right now. I’ve just sort of been running for fun and trying to keep up with my workout routine. I’ve included some mini-workouts (not really planned) just to keep things interesting.

Weekly Run Down and a 9 month Birthday

I’ll start out by sharing my workouts from last week and then I thought I would just sort of share what else has been going on since there’s not a whole lot of say about running right now. This weekend was Grayson’s 9 month birthday! We celebrated by taking pictures and going to the playground.

Weekly Run Down

Monday: Rest
Tuesday: Strength Training
Wednesday: 3.5 miles
Thursday: Strength Training
Friday: 3.1 stroller miles
Saturday: 7 miles
Sunday: 3.5 stroller miles

Now that I usually run on both Saturday and Sunday, Mondays have become a rest day. It works out because I go into the office on Mondays and Tuesdays so I have less time to work out on those mornings. On Tuesdays I usually strength train since I just do that in the basement.

This week’s runs

I decided to run early on Wednesday because I was working from home and wanted to be as efficient as possible. I even got started on a bunch of work while I was pumping before my run. We also got out for a quick mid-day walk. It was really hot out.

Grayson Wednesday
but cold inside, which is why he’s dressed like its winter…

It was finally a bit cooler out on Friday! We got out for a stroller run after breakfast. I mentioned on Instagram how crazy our mornings are these days now that he eats solids. It makes it tough to do a whole lot in between naps and meals, but I’ve been trying to make a point of getting him out of the house more.

stroller run

On Saturday morning I was in the mood to do a mini workout, so I ran 7 miles alternating hard and fast efforts. I was surprised at my pace and how good I felt.

Sunday’s stroller run felt a little tough. It was warmer out again and it was also my third day in a row of running. Luckily Rob came along so he pushed the stroller for half of the run.

Cross-Training

Tuesday and Thursday were my strength training days this week. This was my second week of Phase 13. (I actually had to look up what Phase I am on because I’ve been doing this for so long).

We got out for a few walks this week which was nice. I’m looking forward to the cooler weather when we will be able to get outside in the middle of the day. We also went out to run some errands during lunch on Thursday. Luckily there was a Starbucks in the shopping center we went to. I needed it because for some reason Grayson decided to wake up at 3:45am. He hasn’t done anything like that in about 4 months now! I can’t even complain because he is generally a great sleeper, especially at night.

Weekend Activities

We didn’t do much this weekend, but somehow it felt really busy! I spent lots of time meal prepping during nap time on both Saturday and Sunday, and also did some cleaning. I used to be so good about meal prepping but I slacked off for a little while. This weekend I was able to make a bunch of big meals and put some of it in the freezer, so hopefully it was last awhile.

We went to a park with a playground for a few hours on Sunday. The weather was really nice so we just hung out on a blanket and then pushed Grayson in the swing for a bit. It was also his 9 month birthday (!!!) so that afternoon we took some pictures.

It’s crazy to think that he has been around for the same amount of time that I was pregnant with him! Seriously, this year is going so fast. While there are alot of good things to look ahead to, I also would like time to slow down. Even when I look at pictures of him as a newborn I feel like it was years ago, but at the same time just yesterday.

9 months in 9 months out
9 months in and 9 months out! Time flies

As for running, I’ve been looking at local 5ks but most likely if I do one it will be a last minute decision. So maybe I’ll try to do some fartlek runs or something in case that happens. We’ll see!

How were your workouts last week?
Do you meal prep?
Did you get outside this weekend?

I’m linking up with Deborah and Kim for the Weekly Run Down!

Meal prep sure helps when you have a toddler. Such a fun age enjoy it. If you want a little road trip in December, the Jingle all the way 15K is fun in DC.

Oh I will need to look into that race! I’ve never done a 15k! And yes I think over the next couple of years meal prep will be more important than ever.

not sure my first comment worked but meal planning and prep definitely helps when you have a toddler to run after . Fun age though! Enjoy him. If you are looking for a road trip in December, the Jingle all the way 15K in DC is a fun one

Meal prepping is something I never have been very consistent doing. I’m pathetic with it now! The hubby is gone 2-3 night a week, so my motivation to make “meals” is low, even though I’d have several days of leftovers if I made an effort. Happy 9 months, Grayson! 😉

I dont think I would ever have the motivation to meal prep (or even cook) if it were just for myself!

I actually did some meal prepping yesterday. just meal prepped my lunches as I wasn’t feeling that great yesterday. I’ll have to wing it for breakfast and dinner a few days, lol.

Happy 9 months to your cute little man! He’s such a happy baby 🙂

I can’t believe Grayson is already 9 months! I remember chatting to you about his due date last year, and now he is almost a year old, LOL. Time certainly does fly! Even with no race to train for, you have managed a really active week, well done!

I’m not a meal prepper but I do menu prep! I have a couple of notebooks filled with our weekly menus dating back to when the boys were very little. It helped me make planning easier. I could look back and see what I made and what everyone liked. I don’t need to do it now, but old habits die hard!

Nice week of training. Hard to believe Grayson is almost 1!

That’s a great idea to keep a notebook! I started a google doc with my weekly meal plans and links to there recipes so I’m hoping that will help give me ideas when I start to feel less creative.
I really can’t believe he is going to be 1 in a few months!

    So cute!
Crazy to realize I’ve been following you this long. It was definitely before you were pregnant, or before you announced anyway
I like the idea of meal planning – I’m better at it in winter when it’s crock pot season

The past year has gone by so fast! And yes to crock pot meals!

15 mile long run workout this morning! Honestly, e 15 mile long run workout this morning! Honestly, every step of this felt challenging, so I’m pretty happy that I still hit my paces. I’m going to blame it on the humidity. WHY is it still so warm and humid when it’s almost October 😩🥵 I made the mistake of leaving my hair in a ponytail so of course it was a tangled mess by the time I was done. When will I learn? Just glad I got this done to wrap up week 9 of @richmondmarathon training! Is it still humid where you are? #run #marathontraining #richmondmarathon #longrun
Yesterday’s’ long run was 16 miles with 6 x 1 Yesterday’s’ long run was 16 miles with 6 x 1 mile MP/1 mile easy. I took a few hours of PTO in the morning to do this on the trail because I knew wouldn’t be able to do it this weekend. This was my first time on the trail since my marathon last November. It was nice to be back there and the perfect place to do this kind of long run. It was the kind of run where you start thinking “ok cool I just did a tough MP workout” but then you remember you actually need to run 26 miles in a row at that pace. Luckily there’s still 9 more weeks of training…although that doesn’t really sound like that much!
41 miles for the week and got in 2 strength sessions. Taking it easy this weekend other than chasing the kids around for all their activities! #run #marathontraining #longrun
It’s kind of freeing to not care about pace. It It’s kind of freeing to not care about pace. It is a little frustrating to have to plan more time for an easy run. But it’s definitely worth it to recover quicker and feel better on workout days! #run #marathongtraining #easyrun
You know marathon training is starting to get real You know marathon training is starting to get real when you start losing track of what training week it is. I had to check my calendar but this was week 6, so 10 weeks to go!

I ran the Charles Street 12 last weekend so this week was all about easy miles and recovering from the race. That went well until I went and ran all the hills yesterday followed by walking around a maze and fun park for 5 hours. I got in some strength and mobility this morning and now I’m back to focusing on recovery!

If you’re training for a race how many weeks do you have left?
