Workouts 12/14-12/20 and Coaching Giveaway Winner!

I had high hopes of getting in some good workouts this week before the holidays begin, but stomach bugs and running just don’t mix well. So a few unplanned rest days happened. I typically find time to workout even when I am traveling so its not like I won’t do anything next week, I just would have liked to have gone into the craziness with a few more workouts completed. Oh well!

Sunday: Rest

Monday: 5.46 miles @ 8:54 pace with hills, PM: 75 minutes hot yoga

monday

Tuesday: 6.01 miles @8:56 pace, PM: 20 minutes online barre workout

tuesday

Wednesday: 2.5 miles on treadmill, Body Pump, CX Works  PM: 2 miles

body pump

Thursday:  Rest (sick)

Friday: Rest (sick)

Saturday: 45 minutes easy on spin bike, 45 minutes barre (I did a 15 day free trial of Barre3), 15 minutes easy yoga- I knew I wasn’t up for running yet but was feeling a little better and wanted to see how an easy workout would go. It felt good to move, but I definitely still wasn’t feeling myself.

Total: 15.97 miles

It’s also time to announce the winner of the running coaching giveaway!

I hope you are feeling better! Seriously, those stomach bugs take so much out of you. Ugh, I hope to never have one again…As for workouts while traveling, depends upon where I am and for how long. This week in Disney I don’t plan on working out but if I do, I will limit it to 30 minutes just for a quick run, if it happens at all.

Its definitely nice to not worry about working out while on vacation. When I travel with my in-laws (and even my family) I am always up so much earlier than everyone theres really nothing else to do besides workout. Since we stay in hotels I usually just opt to use the hotel gym.

Just think, at least you got sick last week and are on the mend this week! It stinks to be sick over Christmas!

You’re a trooper for getting any workouts in! Whenever I’m hit with a bug I turn into a total baby and stay in bed.

Exactly, I don’t know what I would have done if I felt that sick while I was away!

Hope the stomach bug has left your body so your able to enjoy the holiday! They always knock me on my feet for days. So not fun 🙁

It was really bad for about 3 days. I think today I am almost back to normal!

It looks like you got some great workouts in before getting sick at least! 75 minutes of hot yoga sounds intense! Being I’m not a “heat” person I don’t think I could handle hot yoga. I hope to squeeze in a couple of online barre workouts this week. Have a great vacation!!

At firs the hot yoga was pretty intense but I have learned to love it! Now whenever I take a class I make sure to take a hot class, since thats something I can’t do at home. I’ve been loving the online barre, and really want to try it in a studio at some point. I am definitely feeling muscles that I have been neglecting for years!

I am traveling next week so I will be doing some quick circuits in my mom’s living room and maybe go to the gym with a few times for a quick workout. I am not a fan of the cold so no outside running in NJ for me!

I won’t be running outside in Michigan (I think its always snowing/icy/freezing there!) but I’ll probably run outside in NY since thats pretty much the same as the weather Im used to in MD. But hotel gyms are a good option too for quick workouts.

Being sick is the worst and stomach bugs are the worst of the worst! I always think it’s good to scale things down when you’re sick, I think it’s your body’s way of telling you it needs a break. I hope you are feeling better!

    • [email protected] says

      December 21, 2014 at 7:32 pm

Yes, definitely. Even though I felt better in general today I still didn’t have as much energy running-wise as I usually do. Being sick really takes a toll on your body!

So glad you are feeling better. I do keep running while I travel. I’ve run in some very interesting places! The locals (and the wild pig) in St John thought I was nuts.

I love running in new places! But I won’t run outside in Michigan because the weather there is usually so gross- Plus its easier to pack shorts and tank tops for the hotel gym:)

I’m glad you’re feeling better, it seemed like that stomach bug really knocked you on your ass for a while there! Honestly, you got in a lot more workouts than I did this week – I’ve taken ultra marathon recovery rest period to its extreme and haven’t done much of anything, haha. (Granted I did pack up my whole life and move across the country, but still! I’m craving a good workout. I can’t wait to get to my mom’s house and take the dog out to run on some trails.)

That sounds great! I was really craving a run today after laying in bed for 3 days. I did make it out but didnt have as much energy as usual. It definitely felt good to move and get fresh air!

Looks like you got some good workouts in. This week has been rough for me since I’ve been sick :/ Yuck! I do keep up with my workouts when traveling, and actually I enjoy those workouts because it’s somewhere new and a change in scenery etc. So fun.

You still had some good workouts for not feeling well. I still continue to workout even while I’m traveling. If I didn’t, I don’t think I would get half my workouts in with all the traveling I do. Enjoy the rest of you weekend!

That’s really great that you have been able to incorporate workouts into your traveling. I know that a lot of people who travel all the time tend to get out of the habit of working out because it can be difficult to fit it in without a regular routine. I also just enjoy working out while I am traveling and on vacation; it seems to get my day off to a good start!

Glad you are starting to feel better!! I haven’t traveled too much lately but I always at least have good intentions of running. I need to get better at getting out when I’m at my boyfriend’s! My workouts were okay this week, especially for being in on the treadmill.

I haven’t been keeping up with workouts or blogging this week. = ( Glad to hear you are feeling better. Hope you enjoyed the barre class – it’s one of my favorite cross-training classes!

I can definitely see the appeal of the barre classes! Its a great way to strength train without spending a ton of time lifting heavy weights.

Yesterday’s’ long run was 16 miles with 6 x 1 Yesterday’s’ long run was 16 miles with 6 x 1 mile MP/1 mile easy. I took a few hours of PTO in the morning to do this on the trail because I knew wouldn’t be able to do it this weekend. This was my first time on the trail since my marathon last November. It was nice to be back there and the perfect place to do this kind of long run. It was the kind of run where you start thinking “ok cool I just did a tough MP workout” but then you remember you actually need to run 26 miles in a row at that pace. Luckily there’s still 9 more weeks of training…although that doesn’t really sound like that much!
41 miles for the week and got in 2 strength sessions. Taking it easy this weekend other than chasing the kids around for all their activities! #run #marathontraining #longrun
It’s kind of freeing to not care about pace. It It’s kind of freeing to not care about pace. It is a little frustrating to have to plan more time for an easy run. But it’s definitely worth it to recover quicker and feel better on workout days! #run #marathongtraining #easyrun
You know marathon training is starting to get real You know marathon training is starting to get real when you start losing track of what training week it is. I had to check my calendar but this was week 6, so 10 weeks to go!

I ran the Charles Street 12 last weekend so this week was all about easy miles and recovering from the race. That went well until I went and ran all the hills yesterday followed by walking around a maze and fun park for 5 hours. I got in some strength and mobility this morning and now I’m back to focusing on recovery!

If you’re training for a race how many weeks do you have left?

#run #runner #marathontraining #richmondmarathon
15 miles, over 1,100 feet of elevation gain, and 9 15 miles, over 1,100 feet of elevation gain, and 91% humidity 🫠 Pretty sure that was harder than my race last weekend, but got it done. Now off to my second workout of the day- taking the kids to an outdoor fun park. RIP to my legs.
What are you up to this weekend?
