As I said on Instagram the other day: Every day is a good day for a run. Some days are definitely better than others. I truly appreciate each step I take and feel gratitude for every run. After my run went well on Saturday, I was thinking about how it was a good day for a run (I was feeling good, no blister issues, weather was cooperating…). But then I remembered that even when things don’t go right, I’m still happy to be running.
Monday: Soft tissue work, Strength Training Week 5 Day 1
I can’t believe I’m already in week 5 of my strength training plan! One more week to go. I’ll find out about options for continuing this week.
Tuesday: Soft tissue work, dynamic mobility, 4 mile run
I headed out a little later since I was off for the 4th of July. It was nice to not be rushed during the week!
Wednesday: Soft tissue work, stability exercises, 3 mile run
I decided to run in a hilly area for this run, and surprised myself with my pace. I tried my orthotics in the Launch and I don’t think my feet liked them.
Thursday: Soft tissue work, Strength Training Week 5 Day 2
Second strength training workout of the week. Just two more sessions to go! This was a really hectic week at work and I could tell my brain wasn’t working quite right when I ended up wearing my shirt inside out for my workout!
Friday, Soft tissue work, 30 minutes on spin bike, static mobility
I have finally been getting back on the spin bike. I love being outside this time of year but its also good to cross train and give myself a break from running.
Saturday: Soft tissue work, dynamic mobility, 4 mile run
This was the run I mentioned earlier, where everything went pretty well. It was a good day for running! (Isn’t every day?!)
Sunday: Rest
I go back to the podiatrist on Tuesday for a follow-up. I’m going to tell him about the blister and see what he says. I don’t feel like I have really been able to run in the orthotics as much as I would like but I don’t really have any complaints other than the blister. As I’ve said before, I won’t be able to say that they help until I’ve gone months without pain.

How were your workouts last week?
Do you think every day is a good day for a run?
Ever wear your clothes inside out for a workout?
Linking up with Holly , Tricia, and Christine for the Weekly Wrap!
Every day is a good day and a run makes it even better. My week in workouts was flat. Nothing too exciting, nothing horrible. Just there. I think it’s the post long holiday weekend effect.
It was definitely a strange week with the holiday on a Tuesday. Its better to have a boring week than a bad week!
YES every day is a good day to run! I think it was easy to take that for granted because we started experiencing long-term injuries but now we know not to take it for granted.
I used to wear my running tops inside out a little too frequently. Thank goodness you usually can’t really tell unless you see the tag!
Thats true! I feel like no one is really paying attention, especially if you’re not working out in a gym.
every day lately feels like a great day to run when the sun is up early and it’s nice outside! the humidity tried to get me on Saturday though, I wasn’t expecting it since it’s been really nice here lately.
I feel like the humidity hasn’t been as bad as usual this summer. But when its high it feels like a real struggle!
Every day that we get to run is a great day. Because you and I both know that we don’t always get them!
Exactly!
Great reminder that we should never take running for granted! And i’ve definitely put my shirt and socks on inside out many times before early morning runs.
It happens! Its hard to function well early in the morning:)
Definitely agree! Even though I complain about the heat, I am always thankful to have the opportunity to run because I know some people do not have that option.
So true! Running in the heat is hard but I try not to complain because Im just so grateful to be running at all.
I definitely agree – everyday is a great day to run! I try to stop thinking of runs as “good” or “bad” because just getting to run is good enough – even when it’s in the rain, heat, or whatever.
Exactly! Some runs may be challenging or not go well but its always a great feeling to be out running.
Nice job this past week! Oh, isn’t it great when you have that run where everything clicks? It’s been a while since I’ve had that feeling, but I still think every day is a good day to run…it’s a gift!
It really is! I hope you have a run where everything clicks soon!
I do think every day is a good day for a run …except June, July and August in Mississippi!! haha Just kidding, but not really.
Great week Lisa! I’m anxious to hear what your podiatrist says!
Haha! The heat certainly does make it challenging!
Every day I can run is a good day. I had a full week of workouts last week, and I felt good. I’m still getting used to my new shoes, but I’ve had 3 good runs after my first ugly run.
Thats awesome! Glad you’re adjusting to the shoes!
Yes, even in our summer heat & humidity — it is still a gift to be able to run. I hope your orthotics work well and you can continue to run in them. I confess I have a pair of winter tights that I always seem to put on inside out. When will I ever learn?
Thanks! I don’t think Ive ever put on tights inside out, but Im sure it could happen!
What are the most cushioned shoes you’ve tried with orthotics? Have you ever dabbled with a pair of Saucony Triumph or Brooks Glycerine? Heavier shoes but maybe your feet really need the extra cushioning right now. I’d say Asics Nimbus but I know the heel drop is huge in those ones and you like flatter shoes. I think the Triumph and Glycerine are a bit lower (6-8mm).
Oh are they really that low? Ive never tried either of those. Ill have to consider those when/if I go to the running store. The altras are pretty cushioned, and I like that they are so wide that the orthotics fit in there well.
I had a great training week last week – made up for the poor effort the week before! I’m hoping for at least four days in and three days off this week too.
Glad you had a good week! Hope this one goes well too.
Wearing clothes inside-out? Yes, indeed (raises hand). I think I have even worn tank tops backwards (getting dressed in a fairly dark bedroom for an early morning adventure LOL). And the clincher? I didn’t notice until I took a few selfies and saw the hem line. #oops
Haha busted by the selfie! Its tough to get it all right that early in the morning!
I love your “every day is a good day for a run” mantra! Even if the weather is crappy, at least I was outside to experience it rather than inside doing nothing, so I love how running gets me out most days.
Exactly! Especially in the winter, running is the only thing that gets me outside!
Every day that I get to run really is a gift – especially after spending the first half of this year trying to come back from an injury. Even when the humidity has been so tough lately…I’ll still take it over the alternative 🙂
Agreed! Thats is what I always tell myself when the weather is less than ideal!
I had a good week last week. Definitely went better than expected. But that is the thing with running that something we have good and bad days of running. But for some reason, the bad runs are the ones we focus on more ruin it for us.
We really tend to do that, don’t we? I guess those tough ones just draw so much more of our energy and attention.
Yep, every day is definitely a good day for a run. Although, I have a harder time getting rallied around that when it’s 90 degrees and 95% humidity at 7:30 a.m. Oh summer! Thanks for linking!
Yea the weather can definitely impact how I feel about running!
