Hello and Happy Thursday! I have been trying to sit down and write this post for a good hour now, and I keep getting distracted. Sometimes that happens when I try to Think Out Loud. So I poured myself a glass of wine, and maybe you want to do the same? Unless it’s 7am and you are getting ready to go to work; in that case I would wait a bit.
How cute are these wine glasses? Funny story about them: Remember how Alexis did awesome in her race about a month ago? Well she asked for my address and said she wanted to send me something. Well I totally forgot, and then one day these glasses showed up in the mail from Etsy and I had no idea where they came from. It took a good 10 days for me to remember what Alexis had said, and when I asked her she said they were from her! Mystery solved😃
So as I was saying, I keep getting distracted this afternoon. We have been moved into our house for 2 months but we still don’t have any decorations up. We decided to get these shelves and for our living room and they were delivered last night. So I’ve been digging through boxes to find things to put on our very limited shelf space.
We are also just trying to decide if we like the color and style. We definitely need to add some brighter colors into this room and we were thinking this teal/blue would be a good place to start.
Otherwise I think I am pretty much adjusted to living here. However, my one pet peeves is that we have a filtered water dispenser on our fridge and it is the slowest.thing.ever….I know, first world problems.
I had a dentist appointment on Wednesday so I took the whole day off of work. I had to get a filling replaced, but it didn’t end up taking too long. They did have to numb my mouth so that’s always fun. Trying to eat lunch 2 hours later was interesting.
I have been slacking a little on my foam rolling lately and I paid the price when I finally did a solid rolling session yesterday. This ball is pretty intense when you haven’t used it in a while.
I also broke out new running shoes this week! I knew that I had two new pairs in boxes somewhere in the house, but I had no idea where they went after the move. I found them in a big box in the basement, just in time. I have a little over 300 miles on my old Pureflows, but I like to start breaking the new ones in before I retired the old ones.
The first run in a new pair of shoes is always exciting! I was going to wear them last Thursday but it was pouring rain and I didn’t want to get them soaked and muddy on their first run.
Do you get distracted when you are trying to write certain posts?
Do you like to decorate? Are you good at it?
How often do you replace your running shoes?
meredith @ Cookie ChRUNicles says
I try to get closer to 400 miles instead of 300 which is what usually happens to me but it rarely happens! With all of my shoe rotating, I am actually losing track and sort of feel like my main pair of Boosts are feeling a little worn but I think it’s still too soon. The running shoes just go so fast sometimes!
[email protected] says
I do alot of rotating which is why I need to keep track of the miles on then (when I remember). I also try to base it on how they feel but I worry that sometimes by the time I notice its a little too late!

I get distracted all the time. Like, all the time. It’s really getting worse with each passing birthday too! I got really into painting over the last year — I helped my mother repaint the entire upstairs of our house. It’s so much work, but it’s amazing what the right color walls can do for a room! We’re renting right now so we can’t paint, I can’t wait til we buy a place and I can actually feel like I’ve decorated! New shoes are exciting. Nothing like that first trial with them on! I try to get a new pair every Spring, but I don’t run as much as I used to so sometimes I get more time out of them.
[email protected] says
One of these days we will pain but for now I think we will stick with the white…I think it would look a million times better painted but we just don’t have the energy to deal with that quite yet:)
Susie @ SuzLyfe says
Prettay coloooooors. I’m so cheap and I get so nervous about switching shoes the further into training that I get that I will end up running in the same pair the whole way through, which is no bueno (but at least I run lower mileage than most). I love to decorate. I have a great eye, but I’m the type of person for whom it never quite comes together. Freaking annoying.
Also, I need those glasses!
[email protected] says
That is why I like to rotate between at least two pairs…so they last longer and I don’t have to worry about breaking in a new pair too close to a race. It gets tricky to track the mileage, but its the only method that has worked for me.
Cassandra @PoweredByBling says
I love buying new shoes! Who doesn’t??? I also need those glasses…..what’s the link to your friend’s etsy shop?
[email protected] says
She just ordered them on Etsy, I’m not sure where but I bet if you searched for them you could find them!
Brandie says
I love those wine glasses!!
I got a new pair of running shoes for my birthday last month and was so excited. Especially that first night I got to break them in.
I love to decorate – it’s just coming up with new ideas that can be frustrating. Thank goodness for Pinterest!
Have a great weekend!
[email protected] says
I love getting decorating ideas on pinterest! If only I could make things looks as good as they do in the pictures:)
Amanda @ .running with spoons. says
You think 2 months and no decorations is bad? Try almost 4 years 😆 I mean, I have a few little pieces scattered here and there, but when it comes to actually having hung anything on the walls? Womp, womp. Not so much. I do love to decorate, but I also really hate clutter so I think I’m overly careful about what I actually stick in my place so I’m not wanting to get rid of it 2 weeks later 😆
[email protected] says
I like to get things up so that it feels more like “home” but then I usually do a bad job hanging them or don’t like what I put up, so its probably better to take your time and really be sure of how you want to decorate:)
Jamie says
I am so bad at decorating. I had a picture my friend gave me for my birthday (in January) laying on my bedroom floor until last week. I finally hung it up. Which took all of 3 seconds. I think I’m just not creative enough to decorate so I just leave stuff laying around. Commitment issues? Haha. I replace my running shoes about every 500 miles. Any more miles than that and I start getting small aches and pains.
[email protected] says
Im not creative enough either but I wish I was!
Cheryl says
Your new house looks great! I replace my old shoes every 300 miles or so. I typically rotate between 2 pairs, different brand (Brooks and Newtons).
I like to decorate, I haven’t had any new projects in a while because we have been so busy with the kids activities…
[email protected] says
Thanks! I guess I enjoy decorating, but I’m not really good at it and don’t know what I am doing usually!
Suzy says
Those shelves look great! I’m not the best at decorating because I try to limit the stuff we have around the house. There’s just so many people under one roof that adding decorations and accents feels cluttery. Those massage balls are OUCH but man do they do the job! And I’m not sure if this happens to anyone else but whenever I break in a new pair of shoes, my foot always gets numb and tingly for the first few runs. Weird!
[email protected] says
I don’t think thats ever happened to me when I started wearing a new pair of shoes! Weird!
Nicole@thegirlwhoraneverywhere says
I think the Pureflow 3s are what caused my foot to start hurting. I don’t LOVE them as much as the 2s, but- I do like how light they are! I
I love your rug and the teal shelving is so cute! The pop of color looks great!
[email protected] says
I think the 2s were a little more cushiony which I liked. Have you tried the 4s? I always buy whats on sale before trying the new releases.
Alyssa @ Renaissancerunnergirl says
I always complain when the ice maker in our freezer doesn’t work, and then remind myself of the same thing… luckily it is a first world problem.
It takes me forever to decorate. I always feel like by the time I have things all prettied up it’s time to go!
[email protected] says
I think we just get so used to things like ice makers that it becomes a huge frustration when they don’t work properly!
Lesley says
I really do need to decorate my apartment, but I always put it off and put it off, then I move. I keep seeing great ideas for decorations so I need to get on that.
[email protected] says
I love looking at pinterest for inspiration, because I am not creative at all!
Maddie @ Dixie Runs says
I loooooove those wine glasses! SO cute. I get distracted all the time, so I consider it a huge success whenever I post something. I like to watch other people decorate (HGTV obsessed), and I like to think about decorating (Pinterest), but I have trouble with the actual execution… like going to the store and picking things out and not hanging things crooked and knowing where everything goes.
[email protected] says
Haha well you are a few steps ahead of me with decorating! At our last place my mom, aunt, sister, and cousin took me shopping and forced me to buy stuff because I was just so indecisive!
Ashley @ A Lady Goes West says
Hi Lisa, I’m distracted more and more these days by my little puppy! He prefers to be the center of my attention. And YES to new shoes – I switch out my sneakers at least every six months, and have different shoes for different types of workouts. Decorating is fun, but delaying it sometimes helps you to make better choices. 🙂
[email protected] says
That’s true about decorating! We definitely aren’t rushing things sine we know we will be here for awhile:) And I could totally see how your new puppy could be a distraction (but in a good way!)
Sarah @pickyrunner says
I love those wine glasses and I don’t even drink wine! But we actually use that type of glass at home as a regular cup, so I guess I could still get some 😉
I’ve been living in my apartment for almost a year now and STILL haven’t decorated. Now that I’m here for another full year though, I should probably think about hanging up some pictures or something to look like I actually live there…
[email protected] says
I think I just like having something to make it feel more like home…but I wish I had a better eye and actually knew what I was doing when it comes to decorating!
Cody @ onehungryrunner says
Those wine classes are soo cute and I love that they are steam-less! I usually run 500 miles in my shoes (I think), but I really go by the feel as soon as my knees start feeling it I’m on to the next pair!
[email protected] says
I am so jealous of people who can make it to 500 miles in their shoes! I am lucky if I get to 400, but maybe its because mine are kind of lightweight.
Megan @ Meg Go Run says
Thank you for reminding me to roll my bum!!!! 🙂
I love to decorate. But now that we have lived in our house for 7 years, there is like zero decorating to be done… except at Christmas! I LOVE Christmas and I love to decorate for it. 🙂 I am one of those people that has so many Christmas decorations that I have to put a bunch of my NORMAL decorations away so I have room for the Christmas ones. It’s quite a lot of work so I try to milk it for all it’s worth.
[email protected] says
We always get excited to decorate for Christmas but then I get even more excited to take it all down! I think there is less of a commitment with holiday decorations so I find that easier that regular stuff.
I hope you got some rolling in today!:)
Shannon says
Oh my gosh those wine glasses! I need them! 🙂
And I usually replace my running shoes every few months. Depends on if I want some new colors or brands, really!
[email protected] says
Aren’t the wine glasses cute?
I also like to get some new shoes in fun colors, but I also try to get my shoes to last as long as possible so that I don’t end up spending a fortune on running shoes:)
Laura @ This Runner's Recipes says
I love the colors of your Pure Flows! I would seriously buy them in every color if I could. I’m not sure how many miles I put in my shoes, since I keep a newer pair for speed/tempo/long and an older pair for easy/recovery and just go by how they feel on my feet.
[email protected] says
I love all the pureflow colors! And I can’t wait to try the 4s! I keep track of my mileage with my training log or I would have no idea how many miles were on my shoes!
Charissa says
Those wine glasses are genius!! I love them and I think I need them too. But since I have yet to own my own house, I am trying to hold off on buying #allthethings until I’ve got that and have less stuff to move! Speaking of houses, I’m so glad you’re adjusting well to your new home and starting to decorate. I like the teal blue accent with the yellows/browns from the couch/carpet 🙂
[email protected] says
Thank you! Its smart to hold off on buying stuff- the less you have to move the better!
Katie @ Daily Cup of Kate says
LOVE those wine glasses! I replace my running shoes about every 4 or 5 months. I am terrible at keeping track of miles, so I just replace them when my knees and shins are starting to hurt (probably not the smartest haha)
[email protected] says
As long as you recognize the signs right away then I’m sure its fine…I just have a hard time noticing until its too late so I need to keep track.
Lauren @ The Bikini Experiment says
I am easily distracted! Sometimes more so than others. A lot of times it’s little things – I’m thirsty, cold, whatever. Yes to new shoes! I try to replace them at least every 6 months. 🙂
[email protected] says
Yea it can be anything that keeps me distracted if its one of those days! I think I do my best focusing in the morning.
Niki @ Life With Niki says
Your running shoes look so nice! I don’t run very often so I just use my Nikes, but I’d love to invest in some Asics! I am also really bad at keeping up with foam rolling (I mean who is?), and I know for a fact that using that kind of ball is particularly painful… maybe that’s why ;).
[email protected] says
It is painful but I find its not as bad when I do it regularly!
Hailey says
I love the color of those shoes! I replace mine about every 500 miles, but I also wear inserts that make them last a bit longer. And I like the idea of decorating haha but I’m not so good at it. I’m not the most creative person when it comes to that 🙂
[email protected] says
I am not very good at decorating either…Im actually pretty lucky that Rob has a decent eye for it so between the two of us we do ok. But nothing pinterest-worthy, thats for sure!
Pam says
I love those wine glasses! I’ve found some of the coolest stuff on etsy…
I get distracted when I try to write ANY post. They all take forever, which is why I don’t post any more often than I do!
I suck at decorating. Suck HARD. We have very little stuff just sitting around. Half because I don’t know what to put out and half because I don’t want to dust it.
[email protected] says
I actually think by posting every day I am better able to focus because I know what I will be writing about and I know I can come back the next day and write more. But some days its still a struggle!
Victoria at Ice Packs + Races says
What great wine glasses!! Keeping those in mind as a gift for the runners/wine drinkers in my life (or you know, myself) haha
[email protected] says
Aren’t they great?! They would definitely make a great gift for someone…or for yourself:)
James @ HalfMarathonJames says
Best. Wine. Glasses…. EVER… 🙂
[email protected] says
Right?! They were just perfect!!

I go through home improvement/decorating spurts (right now… on hold). Love the shelf you purchased!

Thanks! We will have a lot to do and I think it will just be an ongoing process.
