Non-Running Winter Things

Somehow were are already more than halfway through February, which means we have made it through most of the winter! Rather than my usual Friday 5 post, today I’m just going to share some random winter things (not related to running!) that have been going on lately.

This post contains affiliate links.

If you’re looking for a Friday 5 post, did you see my post earlier this week about tips for choosing a spring running goal?

Non-Running Winter Things

This nice thing about winter is that I never feel guilty just staying inside and doing nothing all weekend. I end up doing a lot of stuff around the house (blogging, meal prep, cleaning, etc.) but I rarely go out anywhere.

adult goals

However, this weekend we are going to a wedding, so I’ll need to try to figure out how to stay up later than 9pm!

Usually you can find me on the couch, under a blanket, next to the fireplace. Sometimes there’s wine.

Reading

Thanks to all my time indoors, I’ve got quite a bit of reading done already this year. I mentioned that I read Roar by Stacy Sims and I’ve also read Running Rewired by Jay Dicharry. This month I started reading Mindful Running and am almost done with that. Next up is Run Strong Stay Hungry which was recommend by Marcia.

Other Winter Things

I got a new car last March and this winter I have truly been enjoying the heated seats feature. Also, the heated steering wheel. Sometimes I don’t want to get out of the car when I get to work because I’m so warm and cozy.

It doesn’t help that my office has been FREEZING all winter. Not really the whole office, just one corner. (The one where I sit!) I moved to the 4th floor last summer which I thought would be warmer, but I now have a window and there is a serious draft. We are also pretty sure that one of the vents blows out cold air. Luckily I have a space heater that I use all day long.

I’ve also been living in big, warm sweaters. (Preferably, with leggings.)

And hot drinks, all the time. Coffee in the morning, and then tea the rest of the day.

As much as I like my Hydro Flask water bottles, they actually keep my water too cold! I prefer room temperature water, especially in the winter.

The good news is that this winter hasn’t been too bad. I kind of wish we just had one snowstorm rather than a bunch of small snowfalls. We’ve also had several days of ice which is no fun. After 2 days of ice last week and cold weather early this week, now it’s almost 60 degrees and not we are supposed to get snow this weekend. I can’t keep up!

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

I never had heated seats in my car–one of my friends has STEERING WHEEL WARMERS in hers! Do you think I could install a carseat warmer and steering bar warmer in Rob the BOB?
One thing about all the layers? It makes nursing king of annoying, lol.

I think a carseat warmer would be amazing! And I bet those layers get super annoying.

I need a car with heated seats! My husband’s truck has heated seats and it’s 7 years older than mine! Unbelievable!

Even though I have no need for heated seats, suddenly I want them. They sound so cozy! Your winter habits sound like my summer ones. It’s too hot to go outside, so I just stay indoors as much as I can. And I always go to bed by 9:00. 😉

They are cozy! Even when its not super cold I put them on because why not?

So I have both heated seats and steering wheel in my car. It is lovely. Right noe I am currently driving a rental and it does not have the heated steering wheel which I am missing. So I have had my car going on two years and can you believe i just found out I had remote start this past winter? Haha…. better late than never I guess.

Haha wow! I actually don’t know if I have remote start but I don’t think so. Its not something they showed me at the dealership.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE heated seats too! I’ve never had a heated steering wheel but that sounds equally great! I’m also such a leggings addict and wear them all day every day! 🙂 Yoga or not! HA!

Happy Friday!! I hope you have a great day!!

Leggings really are the best! And the heated steering wheel is a nice treat. Hope you have a great weekend!

OMG I cling to my heated steering wheel! I love it SO much! Heated seats are amazing too. I definitely stay in more during winter. When it warms up we go out more plus I putter in the garden.

It always feels good to get outside once it starts getting warm especially after being trapped indoors all winter!

I also like room temp water even in the summer. My husband gets annoyed that I cannot stay up late anymore to watch movies with him. Oh well!

Luckily my husband doesn’t stay up late either so I don’t feel bad that I like to go to bed so early! Glad Im not the only one who prefers room temperature water.

I love winter as an excuse to stay indoors and do all the warm, cozy things at home… I read, I knit, and drink tea all day. No shame 🙂

19 miles! 7 on the treadmill, 12 outside, 1,272 to 19 miles! 7 on the treadmill, 12 outside, 1,272 total feet of elevation gain. Amazing weather. Listened to Life of a Showgirl on the treadmill and had some podcasts saved for my outside run but couldn’t get my headphones to connect. This was challenging by the end and I kept thinking how hard it would be if I needed to run another 7 miles today (and all miles at a faster pace) but this is why we train. Feeling like I’m in a good place with 6 weeks to go! How was your run today? #run #marathontraining #longrun
