So it’s Sunday night and I haven’t done anything blog related since Wednesday morning. Things have been hectic and I just haven’t been able to keep up with it all. I decided to pop in and share my training from last week, since I don’t have to do much thinking in order to put this kind of post together!
This week felt long as far as training goes. Doing the 5k on Sunday led me to change up my schedule. I didn’t do a speed workout this week (I would have done mile repeats, but I figured the 5k would be in place of that) and I did my tempo run on Tuesday so I wouldn’t have to do it while I was away at a conference. So basically my two workouts were done by Tuesday and I didn’t have anything besides easy and rest days until Saturday. It was good because I think all the hard running started to catch up with me and on Wednesday I started to feel little niggles of pain in random places. It worked out that I didn’t really have time to run on Thursday and took an extra race day, and felt much better on Friday.
Philadelphia Marathon Training Week of 9/14-9/20
Sunday 9/14: Run to Remember 5k plus 2 mile warm up- 5.1 miles total
Monday 9/15: Rest, core work
Tuesday 9/16: 7 mile run with 5 miles at tempo pace (ranging form 7:23-7:46)
Wednesday 9/17: Strength workout and 5 easy miles
Thursday 9/18: Rest day. I was exhausted after our 5+ hour drive to Pittsburgh on Wednesday night and had to be at my conference at 7am to work the registration desk.It was nice to get an extra hour of sleep.
Friday 9/19: 6.6 miles in Pittsburg (8:29 pace) It was 49 degrees and felt great! This was supposed to be an easy run but with the cool weather and extra rest day I felt like I could run a little faster than a usual easy day.
Saturday 9/20: 12.2 miles with 4 at marathon goal pace (8:27 pace overall)
Total: 36.04
I think I’m gonna cut back on blog posts this week so maybe I can try to catch up on replying to comments and reading other blogs. I’ve realized how stressed out I have been over the past week and something has to give. Unfortunately, blogging is what will have to take a cut for now. I’ll still be around on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook so you can see what I’m up to there!
How were your workouts this week?
What have I missed? Catch me up on what’s going on with you!

Great week! I would think it would be hard to stay on top of fitness while traveling, so kudos to you. I absolutely love Pittsburgh, and regret not running by the river when I was there for a conference!

Thanks! I didn’t have a ton of time but I couldn’t resist running there after seeing how nice it was!
Michele @ paleorunningmomma says
I can relate to the stress lately! Blogging along with keeping up with actual life aren’t meshing well for me lately. I have to figure out a schedule or I’ll drive myself nuts. Every week brings new obstacles with blogging it seems.
I can’t wait to run in 49 degrees! After my half yesterday in the grossest weather ever I would take anything over summer weather at this point. I’m in that point in my training where I need some sort of confidence boost or mental boost.

Hopefully the weather will cool down soon and all of a sudden running will feel much easier:)
It feels really good to know what I am going to take a step back from blogging this week. I didn’t realize it was stressing me out, but I definitely needed a break.
Nicole@TheGirlWhoRanEverywhere says
Blogging had been stressing me out lately too, big time! I think it’s the time of year too–back go school makes everybody crazy!
You had an awesome week of running! Sometimes I like putting my harder workouts next to each other/within a day of each other. It can feel nice to get them out of the way! And I love all of your compression socks–I just bought a grab bag from pro compression bc I need more longer socks 🙂 can’t wait to see what I get!
Natalie @ Never Serious Blog says
I feel ya on the exhaustion and being “behind” in general! My weekend is a total and complete blur, and I”m SO tired!
[email protected] says
That’s exactly how I felt all weekend. I am finally starting to feel caught up but I really wish I had a few more days off!
Lacey@fairytalesandfitness says
Even with things being crazy with you, you still had a great workout week. 49 degrees…brrr. I think that is too chilly. I know it’s probably a perfect weather but I prefer it a bit warmer. Not looking forward to these cooler temps to come.
[email protected] says
Thanks! I am happy with 49 degrees but I know its chilly for some people:) I wore shorts and a long sleeve shirt and it felt great!

I’m glad the burgh treated you well while you were here last week 🙂 Love running on all those trails along the river. We are truly blessed to have such a beautiful place to safely run!

It really was amazing and I wish I was there for longer/had more free time while I was there. We were really lucky that the conference was held at the Wyndham hotel right on the river, so accessible to running paths! Unfortunately most of my time was spent indoors but I really want to go back someday!

I hear ya on needing to take a step back – do what’s right for you! Congrats on another good week, especially that 12.2 – so strong!! 🙂

Thank you! I decided I had to prioritize and right now blogging just had to fall to the bottom of the list. But I know I will feel much better when I have more time and can focus on writing without feeling stressed about it!

Love that picture of the bridge in Pittsburgh! You were so committed to training even out of town. I’m really glad my vacation falls during the taper this year because I am pretty un-committed to structured running while I’m out of town. I love running through new cities but I tend to just go by feel since ‘I’m on vacation!’!
[email protected] says
I also love running in new cities but this trip was so short and busy I was really grateful i got to get it in! I have so many awesome pictures from Pittsburgh that I will hopefully share next time I get around to posting:)
Sue @ This Mama Runs for Cupcakes says
Girl, I’m with you. I think I may be taking a break shortly to! Do what you have to do, your fans will wait. Your training is looking great!!
[email protected] says
Thanks! I think that after a few days I will be ready to get back at it, maybe only blogging a few days a week, but its not worth being stressed about!
Cori @ She's Going The Distance says
I’m doing the same thing, unfortunately blogging has been cut back because of marathon training & work. But i’m running healthy and happy so that’s all that matters!
[email protected] says
Exactly! I was thinking the same thing. I would rather be out running so I have something to blog about later:)

Sometimes it’s nice to not have the workouts spread throughout the whole week and just run easy most of the days. It sounds like it did your body some good too! 🙂 And it can be hard to do workouts out of town, so great job on still getting them in regardless!
[email protected] says
Yes, it all worked out pretty well! I love running while I am away but it was such a short and busy trip that I really had to squeeze it in- but I was glad I did!
Nessa @ Ness Runs says
Do what feels right to you when it comes to blogging – it’s not worth it if it becomes stressful or you’re not enjoying it :). I’ve been struggling to get any workouts in at all lately and it sucks but sometimes life just takes over, it’s okay!
[email protected] says
You are totally right! And we are only human and can’t do it all- so we just do the best we can!
Ashley @ KickAshMom.com says
Awesome training week! Training really does take a lot from you. time, energy, the loss of your mind at times.
[email protected] says
Yes, very true! I think that’s why its so important to not get too caught up in at all and forget to give yourself a break sometimes!
Carrie (This Fit Chick) says
Wow, girl! your running is impressive!! You are killing it. My workouts were good this week!
[email protected] says
Thank you! Glad to hear that your workouts were good, too!
Kirtley Freckleton @ The Gist of Fit says
You’re doing amazing!! Fun to see your updates. Do you still like the socks? I have LOOOVED wearing my compression socks–it’s made all the difference ya know? Yours are the cutest, gotta say 🙂
[email protected] says
I still LOVE my compression socks and I wear them all the time! I probably need to get another pair or two. Alot of times I just sleep in them when I plan to wear them for my run the next morning and they really help my legs recover faster!
Carmy says
Ugh tell me about it! Recently I’ve had to cut back and read/comment on only a handful of blogs inbetween classes cause there’s just not enough hours in a day!
[email protected] says
Yea it can be pretty overwhelming! I think it was the best thing for me to just take a break and focus on other things for a few days. Blogging shouldn’t be a cause of stress, right?! 🙂
