This was so unlike me, but I left to go grocery shopping on Saturday with no meal-plan and no grocery list. Originally we were planning to just go to the Farmer’s Market, pick out some fresh fruits and veggies, and then plan our meals based on that. Also, I will be away Wednesday-Monday so Rob will be on his own. He does not meal plan. (He actually asked if I was going to plan his meals for him while I was away…)
So we made it to the Farmer’s Market and then decided that since we were already out and getting stuff done we might as well hit up the grocery store also. We were starving so figured we would grab lunch first. We ended up trying a bar that we have never been to called the “World of Beer” which was in the same shopping center as the grocery store. Next thing you know we were each drinking a beer and trying out a flight.

I guess maybe the beer relaxed me a bit because by the time we were in the grocery store I decided we would just buy a bunch of ingredients and figure out our meals as we went through the week. Rob was shocked to hear this, but was happy to go along with this no-plan meal plan.
I’m sure we will not be pleased when we realize we don’t have something we need, but I think I can handle it since its a short week for me. Rob may be making another trip to the grocery store later this week:)
The only food prep I did was cooked some steak to use in salads for lunch:
and black bean brownies from The Little Honey Bee (I mean obviously dessert is the priority, right?)
So if you came to this post looking for any meal planning inspiration, you might want to check out some of my previous meal-planning posts. I added a tab under “recipes” that will include all the posts I’ve tagged as “meal planning”. And in case you want to be more organized than me this week, check out my meal planning worksheet.
Did you plan your meals this week?

I did no planning this weekend either. I’m going away next week and I think my brain is in vacation mode already lol. I have a feeling we’ll be making a few unexpected trips to the grocery store soon.

I hate having to go back to the grocery store during the week, but before traveling its always good to use up everything you have!

Every week I say I will meal plan…and then never do. Maybe next week will be my week 😉

It can be tough to get started! I find that its much more likely to happen if I start thinking about it at the beginning of the weekend…otherwise I just want to get grocery shopping over with and don’t feel like wasting my Sunday figuring out what to eat all week!

I’m the worst with “planning” but I also tend to eat the same thing everyday for each of my meals, so I guess not a lot of thought goes into it. Sometimes it’s nice to just wing it though, which is what I’m doing this week since I didn’t go to the store last night. I’ve never been to World of Beer but it seems like a fun place!

I think for the most part I am fine eating the same things all the time, until I get sick of them and need to change it up:)
This was our first time at World of Beer…and it always looks so empty I wasn’t sure what to expect! They have a really small menu but every beer you can image (so that would’t really be your thing;)) The people who work there are super friendly and its nice and big, so I would probably go back at some point.

I thrive on flying by the seat of my pants. I usually like to have some idea of what is coming, but I am such an emotional meal chooser, particularly at night, so if I try to force myself into one thing, it is likely I will convince myself otherwise by that evening!

I run into that occasionally at lunch when I have no choice but to eat what I packed! Generally I end up happy with what I plan for dinners, and breakfasts I just decide day by day.

I’m not a meal planner, probably because I don’t like being tied down and I like cooking things based on how I’m feeling. i try to have a bunch of stuff that I know I can throw together in different way to create meals, and a few go to standard meals in mind. On a really busy week though a plan can be really helpful!

I wish I could do that- you always make your meals look so delicious! (and I’m sure they taste amazing, too:))

I love Farmer’s Markets. They just over flow with fresh and healthy 🙂
I never make a meal plan. Maybe a couple of recipes for the week to try on the husband but we pretty much buy the same stuff each week.

I used to do that, but then we got bored and wanted to try new things, and I hate having to go back to the grocery store, so this seemed to be the best way to make sure we have everything we need for a variety of meals!

Only the toddler meals! 🙂
Which Farmer’s Market do you guys go to? I really need to find a good one. There is like nothing up by me.

But your toddler meals are AMAZING!
We went to the Farmers market on Key Highway at the BMI. I don’t know if we would go back, honestly. This was our first time and I was not all that impressed. I do want to check out the one that is under 83, I heard that one is really nice!

I like that kind of “plan!”
And, I like the idea of beer at lunch before the grocery store!
