This week I am sharing some of the dramatic things I have said, along with a few other thoughts of the week!
I have been enjoying seeing my Timehop updates lately.
I was never big on posting things on Facebook but I think I used to post more during the summer. Back when I had my first big running injury I was a little dramatic. I ended up not running for 7 months and had surgery…so yea a week and a half off would have been nice.
Does anyone else get really stressed out before going away?
I always feel like I have a million things to get done. Again- somewhat dramatic because it always gets done. I am also the worst packer ever. I always make a list a few days before leaving to try to stay organized, but then I add a whole bunch of extra stuff in as I am packing and end up having a huge, heavy suitcase for a 4 day trip. Rob doesn’t think it’s amusing. Guys have it so easy- they throw in a few polos and shorts and they’re done. No makeup, planning outfits, accessories, blowdryers, etc….
Yoga
I made it to yoga this week, but the heater was broken so instead of hot yoga it was regular yogabut still kind of warm because its like 90 degrees outside. And we worked pretty hard so I was nice and sweaty even without the extra heat. I thought I was going to cry during all the core work we did. Shouldn’t yoga be “relaxing”?
House searching is like the most depressing thing ever.
It can also be sort of humorous. Some of the houses that have popped up are seriously laughable- like who would build a house that looks like that and who would actually buy it? Its still fun to just search around…and to sometimes look at 2 million dollar homes and decide which one we would buy if we won the lottery.
I guess this would do just fine.
Happy Tuesday
We had wine and brownies to celebrate making it through Tuesday. Because sometime that is a huge accomplishment.
- What was the longest about of time you couldn’t run due to injury?
- Do you over pack when you go away?
- Ever look at houses you could never afford just for fun?

Packing and going away didn’t stress me out until having kids…now I dread it like nothing else. I wind up going to the drugstore and buying every children’s over the counter remedy available along with all new toiletries and then use none of it and do the same thing before the next trip. I don’t know if I was ever a good traveler but I’m certainly not now! Hope you have a great trip!
Thanks!
I can’t imagine packing with kids! I think I am just gonna have to know that I will inevitably overpack and bring more stuff than I will ever need:)
Making it through Tuesday is ALWAYS a huge accomplishment. Congrats! And I feel like I would totally get sucked into looking at multi-million dollar homes while house hunting. I hate real apartment hunting (so I imagine house hunting would be the same!) but fictional if-I-won-the-lottery-hunting? That sounds awesome.
It sure is alot of fun to dream! I felt like it was much easier looking at apartments to rent versus actually thinking about buying a place! So much pressure!
I call it house porn and OF COURSE. I look through the house catalogs for funzies anyways, and I’m not looking for a place at all. I love making packing lists, is that weird? Like seriously. I never pack until the night before I leave, but I will make a list of what I need like a week in advance.
The list making is the fun part for me, too. I just hate the actual process on putting things in the suitcase. But the absolute worst part for me is the unpacking. I dread coming back from a trip just for that reason.
I used to be notorious for overpacking for every trip, but then I got so tired of lugging around a huge suitcase and ending up not using half of the things in it, so I bought a smaller suitcase that literally forces me to pack light, and it works like a charm 😀
That’s a good idea! I think I would end up packing it to the brim and not being able to fit everything back in when its time to come home!
House hunting is probably both my favorite thing and my least favorite thing. I love looking but when you actually NEED to find a house, it’s a lot more stressful. One day I’ll live in a 3 million dollar mansion… ha, rightttt.
Haha yes me too! Honestly the housing in Maryland is so ridiculous. It makes me want to just relocate to somewhere more reasonable. Like I could probably afford an awesome house somewhere like west Virginia!
HA – we are house hunting right now too. And it IS hilarious. PS if you want to round up about 30 or 40 more couples maybe we can go in together and live in the 2 million dollar house? Juuuuust a thought! And dibs on the master bedroom.
Sounds great! And I feel like even the guest bedroom in this mansion would do just fine!
I’m also looking at houses. It’s really funny to see some of the choices people make when they decorate. It’s like why would you ever have thought that looked good? lol.
Yea that too! We’ve been to a few open houses and some of the stuff people have is pretty strange!
Overpacking is one of my family’s worst habits! Gosh if we could just narrow down all the things we wouldn’t wear, we would be golden. But there are those moments of “what if” and thus, the massive suitcases are brought out 🙂
Exactly! You just never know what you might need when you’re away!
I love looking at houses we’ll never be able to afford. I’m nosy, though, and like to dream 😉 longest I’ve been out of running was 6 weeks when I stress fractured my tibia. That was fun. And I always overpack, but that’s joe’s fault since he did it first and then taught me to do so 😉
Haha well at least Joe can be blamed for your overpacking habits! I feel like most guys are fine packing the minimum!
6 weeks out of running is rough, but it could definitely be worse for a stress fracture!
I really love “thinking out loud” Thursdays! So much fun to read!
I have never used time hop but I admit it DOES intrigue me when I see it on the book!
I’m currently packing–oh wait,no I, not, I’m commenting on your blog instead…I hate packing… I also wind up with. HUGE suitcases for weekend getaways..wth is wrong with me?! “Prepare for everything” is my going away motto, LOL!!!
I know I always plan to start packing a few days early and then I find that the sooner I start the more pack I pack so that’s never a good plan. I think I should just start doing it at the last minute so I don’t have time to add stuff!
Packing is definitely stressful! I agree that boys have it way easier. With running, you have to pack twice as many outfits!
I know, its so unfair!:)
I have to make a list before packing too and still manage to forget something I needed to put on there in the first place…that’s the worst about pulling out of the driveway knowing you probably forgot something and are about to be miles away from whatever it is haha
7 months is so long! I don’t know you did it! My magic number seems to be three months. Every major injury, I’ve always been out 3 months.
There’s a neighborhood newspaper that comes out every month that gets sent out to the whole zip code I guess…I don’t really know, but it has all these nice houses listed on it in the area that I could only dream of having one day. I agree, it’s fun to look still 🙂
My husband always tell me that as long as I have my drivers license that anything else I forgot I can buy when we get to our destination…but how wants to do that?
I have no idea how I made it 7 months without running. It was actually mostly just time spent figuring out the injury and waiting to have the surgery scheduled. Once I had it done I was running on an alter-G 12 weeks later.
Its important to have an idea which mansion you will buy the day you win the lottery, right?:)
I always overpack and my husband gives me such a hard time. I say it’s a girl thing honey, get over it 🙂 You just NEVER know when you will have a fat day or a skinny day or need an extra pair of shoes 😉
Yea is definitely a girl thing:) It does make me a little jealous that guys dont really have to think about what to wear. But they also know that we will have anything they need (shampoo, toothpaste, etc) so I think that is why its so easy for them!
I am a total overpacker. Even with a list. And it’s not like I’m going anywhere remote where I couldn’t get something if I needed it. I want to have options for outfits, what if I want to “dress up”, etc. I’m even worse with my daughter. 🙂
I know, its like I can always get anything I forgot but its much better to just be prepared! And I can make the best packing list ever and then still add more stuff than I need at the end.
Being a flight attendant and traveling all the time I have the packing down to a “T”. I was out for a few weeks due to an injury the other yr. And it was the longest weeks ever! Wine and brownies, nothing wrong with that:)
I don’t know how flight attendants do it! Even people who travel alot for work…I could never handle living out of a suitcase all the time!
Weeks without running are definitely go by way too slow!
I had a crazy busy work week and am just getting caught up on blog reading so I’m really late here, but I am SO with you on house shopping being depressing. 1,000 sq ft condos in my area are going for $300,000 ;( I may be able to afford an actual house when I’m 80 years old!!!! lol
Haha I know, its pretty depressing!!
