I don’t remember the last time I was so exhausted after a weekend. It was probably at the end of our wedding weekend. But I took two days off work after that. This time there was no wedding, so partying, no gifts, and no extra days off. Instead, the weekend was spent doing non-stop errands for the house.

It was one of those weekends that we didn’t plan to do a million things but once we got started we just kept going. While it was nice to get alot done, we are absolutely beat!
There were plenty of trips to Starbucks along the way. I probably wouldn’t have survived the weekend without coffee. As we were driving back to our apartment Sunday afternoon Rob and I both agreed that if we closed our eyes we would instantly fall asleep. He agreed not to do that since he was driving, and I felt bad taking a nap while he drove so I stayed awake too.
We ate out way more than usual because we were on the go so much. And had our first meal in our new house! Soup and salad from Corner Bakery eaten on the floor. Classy.
I didn’t even work out on Sunday and still got over 11,000 steps in. That never happens on a weekend rest day!
Why was it winter all over again this weekend? It flurried all day on Saturday and was windy and cold. I am not very smart and insisted on wearing just a fleece and Toms because I am refusing to wear boots or coats anymore, but I certainly paid the price.
Finally on Sunday night we had a home-cooked meal. “Home” cooked in our apartment. Cooking was the last thing I wanted to do but I felt like I was on autopilot and got it done. I even prepped a bit for the week- nothing major but enough to have some stuff for lunches and snacks.
I definitely slacked on my water intake this weekend and have been constantly thirsty. No matter how much water I drink it doesn’t seem to help! Nuun to the rescue.

Ahhh I can feel how tired you are through the computer screen! When my kids were newborns, I could fall asleep wherever, whenever. It’s a stupid-tired, where I can’t feel my face. I’m glad that phase doesn’t last too long though. I’m still often up at night but it’s not the relentless newborn sleepless nights.
That’s true, I am sure that being up with a newborn brings another level of exhaustion!
An exhausting but productive weekend is a good one I think! I feel like every weekend is like that when you’re moving into a new house. Lots of Starbucks stops helps make it fun 🙂
The plus side of driving all over the suburbs was a Starbucks all over the place!
You make me really curious about my steps for a day with the garmin, I kinda want one…but then I feel like I am being really bratty as I have my forerunner! I hate it when weekends are tiring! But at least it was productive!
I was so curious before I got one too, and I probably wouldn’t have bought myself one but I was lucky enough to win this on a blog giveaway! Its really interesting to see how few steps I take when I don’t workout, and sometimes it gets me moving a little more:)
On a rest day I’m lucky if I hit 6,000-7,000 steps and that’s only if I’m doing errands lol. Glad you had a productive weekend, but hopefully tonight you can relax a little after work!
Im usually the same way on a rest day! Especially if Im not working. At least at work I move around the building quite a bit.

Yes we couldn’t pass up the candles at Home goods! Although I was kind of disappointed with the options, but we did find a few that we liked.
It is a lot of fun to do the home stuff- there is just sooo much to do that I feel like it will never end!
You need to meet my father in law. Man has fallen asleep at red lights and woken up as they turned green. It is a gift (?). Also a doctor thing! I kind of love the early days before you have furniture and you are eating off the floor. Simpler times, but exciting times 😀
I guess as a doctor you need to learn to be able to sleep whenever you have the chance! It is a fun time to be just moving in and eating off the floor– I remember doing the same in our current apartment for about a week before we bought a couch!
Lots of starbucks on hand is a great thing when you need it! Very exciting that you ate in your new house! Soon you will be all settled!

I need to get a good night sleep tonight-I managed to sleep in a bit this morning but I was freezing last night and had a sore throat so didn’t sleep well.

I hope you got some rest last night! Moving is so exhausting. Last year at this time I was moving, finishing up grad school, and planning a wedding and would fall asleep anytime I was a passenger in a car! Thank goodness for coffee and Nuun!
Moving, grad school, and wedding planning are like the 3 most tiring activities! Not sure how you were able to do all 3 at the same time!
Sounds like a busy but exciting weekend – moving is always so much work! I literally do drink Nuun all day, my favorite is Goji Berry Green Tea. When my boys don’t sleep well, I could fall asleep anywhere anytime 🙂 And I don’t have a fitness tracker, but I’ve wondered how many steps I take just chasing them around all day!

Im sure you get a lot of steps chasing the boys around! My lowest steps are always days that I have a lot of meetings and don’t work out, or rest days when I don’t move from the couch at all:)
I am so exhausted after this weekend too! Between being sick and going to a wedding on Saturday I am just wiped. I can’t even believe that horrible weather. I was all dressed up for spring and it was freaking snow showers. Unacceptable.

Sounds like a very busy weekend! At least you had Starbucks to help you out. 🙂 Hope you’re all settled in to your new place now. That’s an amazing amount of steps for a rest day! I have a Jawbone UP24, and my rest day steps are around 1500! Apparently I don’t move around much on those days.
Sometimes my steps are that low on rest days- especially days when I don’t leave the apartment!
If I’m going going going I can stay awake but the minute I take a step back is when I’m hit with extreme tiredness. I felt that way the last time I moved, not my most recent time. That wasn’t bad but I also took more days off from work to get it done.
I know what you mean and I think that’s what Rob and I experienced in the car on the ride home on Sunday- the exhaustion just hit us both after we stopped doing stuff!
You know I was just thinking about what it takes for me to be so tired that I can fall asleep no matter what. VACATION. Normally when we are on vaycay, we are CONSTANTLY on the go and getting up early. So falling asleep is never a problem for me. But then of course I need a vaycay to recover from vaycay. 🙂
I prefer to have vacations that are relaxing! Even then, Im usually still tired from traveling, but when Im away I like to just lay at the beach or pool the whole time!
I almost never go to Starbucks because there are so many other coffee shops here, but this weekend I was at the drive through coffee shop in my neighborhood a few times…I’m addicted to their iced mint green tea, and one a day just isn’t enough!

I think I would have been ok with any kind of coffee this weekend- but I still have a lot of money on my Starbucks card from the holidays so Ive just been using that!

I think I went like 2-3 months without any starbucks but certainly made up for it this past weekend! I definitely feel like I need some rest now:)
I’m pretty sure I don’t hit that # steps on a rest day! I take full advantage of my easy days if I can. 🙂 But I also enjoy those productive days like you described where you’re on the go and getting stuff crossed off your list. Rest up this week!
I think with the types of errands we were doing (shopping and moving things in to the new house) the high step count was inevitable! Usually I like to truly take advantage of my rest days as well:)
I have a Garmin Vivo Fit too! My steps are all over the place… I got up to 25,000 on Saturday but that’s only because I had a long run and then ran a lot of errands. Sometimes during the week I barely break 3,000 if it’s a rest day because I sit at a desk from 9-5.
I have quite a range too! I did pool running on Saturday which actually is calculated as steps so I had over 20,000 with that and all the shopping and moving we did later in the day.
What an exciting weekend! I think there is no way around the moving exhaustion. At some point in the week or so following closing on our house and moving in, Wes and I agreed that next time we move we would try to take a week off work during move-in time so that we could just go ahead and get as much of the move in stuff done as quickly as possible. Starbucks might be a good substitute for time off though 🙂
Im actually planning to take a few days off around the time that we actually move because its spring break at the school where I work, so that will be nice! We aren’t having the movers come for 2 more weeks and are just trying to slowly get as much done as we can on our own.
That’s exciting about your new house! On non-work days when I’m really taking it easy, I usually only get ~5,000 steps.

Moving is not easy stuff! The first time we moved (from apt to first house) I was nine months pregnant – that was interesting! lol. I remember setting up a folding table with some chairs to eat lunch in the living room. And the next time we moved (second house), I recall the first dinner we had at the kitchen table – the best Chinese food. So good I am getting a craving now lol
I hope you didn’t have to help much with the move when you were 9 months pregnant! I think moving is a great excuse to eat whatever fast food you feel like.

Unfortunately the worst isn’t even over yet! We are moving in two weeks but for now are just taking as much stuff their on our own as we can, plus doing shopping. I have a feeling I will be exhausted from this moving stuff for the next month or so!
I’m pretty sure I was that tired this weekend too with only 8 hours of sleep out of 48 hrs. We have eaten many meals on the floor as we seem to move every 3 years! So much fun to do home stuff though when it’s getting started! So exciting!

Wow! You really had a jammed packed weekend. Congrats on getting your steps in without even trying. You must have been busy! I try not to drink too much Starbucks unless I am in a pinch and need a pick me up at work…too pricey for me.
I usually avoid going there because of the cost but these were special circumstances…also, I still have alot of gift cards from the holidays!
I think the most I’ve ever been to Starbucks on a weekend is three times…which definitely tends to happen during the holiday season because I’m obsessed with their holiday drinks 🙂 I was definitely fueled by my own coffee on the weekend though! Between getting home from a track meet on Friday at midnight, to having practice with the kids the next day, was rough. I wanted to sleep in so bad Sunday, but I would have kicked myself later if I didn’t get up early and get my long run in. Needless to say, I’m fueled by coffee once again today haha. I feel you on the thirst too! My water consumption has plummeted to an all time low. That’s really awesome that you got in so many steps without working out though! Hopefully this next weekend won’t be so rushed for you! 🙂

I feel like I’ve been exhausted for months now and I’m sure it’s related to the lingering winter :/ I bailed on doing my long run outdoors because I’m refusing to run in winter temps still! Ugh…
I think many of us are just feeling so down about how its still been so cold. I don’t blame you for doing your run on the treadmill! Who wants to be outside at the end of March when its below 20 degrees?
I was at Starbucks twice today alone. It’s ridiculous. I can always fall asleep on the spot too. It’s a special talent. How great you got so much done!

Wow, busy weekend. We moved in the fall and are still getting settled. Those first few months were filled with trips to Home Depot, Bed Bath Beyond, Pier One (and a few trips to HomeGoods – I love that place). Get some rest!

The home cooked meal looks good! This time last year (around April and through May) was the last time I felt I could sleep anywhere – my project got super busy. Good luck with the move! Super classy dinner – you laid out a towel on the floor 🙂 I would have eaten from my lap haha.
Haha yea and it was a good thing because I am such a messy eater and salad is not easy to eat off my lap! So there were pieces all over the towel when I was done lol…glad I didn’t mess up the new floor that fast!

I’m also the same way when I’m the only passenger in a car. I feel so guilty (and rude!) if I’m tired and fall asleep when the driver has no one else to talk to. But I think that can be a good thing – means we’re respectful, right?

I know! 10 years ago I was always tired after the weekend because I would go out and stay up late. Then I had a few years where weekends were actually somewhat restful. Now they are just busy and exhausting in a different way than the work week!

I use my garmin to track my steps and on a rest day they are usually around 5000 ish but it varies quite a lot. For a waitressing shift I often log around 20000 though, crazy! 🙂
My steps vary quite a bit as well! Like yesterday I sat for most of the day at work and ran 1 mile, and only hit 6,000 steps.

We used to have those weekends, pre kid and I remember feeling so accomplished afterwards. Now since we have our little dude, having fully productive weekends don’t really happen. We feel guilty if we don’t dedicate some time to doing a few fun, kid things. Or at least taking a lot of play breaks 🙂 Although now that he’s getting older we find it much easier to devote time to household tasks since he can help. Start them young!
Haha, that’s a good plan! But its probably really important to include those breaks for him- overall it probably makes everyone’s weekend a little more enjoyable:)
Moving is just such an exhausting process! There is no way to sugar coat it. You just have to drink the Starbucks and keep on going! So excited for you that you are moving into your new home!!
