Last weekend I shared this photo in Instagram of the Sunday morning tropical green smoothie that I made. Smoothies are a frequent post-workout snack around here, but I also make them when we just want something quick and nutritious at any time of day. This tropical green smoothie recipe includes lots of healthy ingredients and is easy to make!
I thought I would share the recipe for this tropical green smoothie since it’s a little different than my standard smoothie (and actually comes out green- most of them are a purplish color!) All you need are bananas, berries, spinach or kale, plain yogurt, peanut butter, orange juice, and a little fresh ginger.
Tropical green smoothie ingredients:
When I make smoothies I usually just eyeball the ingredients which also allows me to adjust based on what I’m in the mood for. But here is what I used for this smoothie:
- 1 frozen banana
- 1/2 cup frozen berries
- 1 cup kale
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt (I use Chobani)
- 1 tbsp peanut butter
- 1 tsp fresh ginger
- 1 cup orange juice
Recipe:
Add everything to a blender and mix until well combined. Add some ice if it’s not cold enough. Enjoy!
I love smoothies, especially when it’s warm out, as a post-workout snack. Sometimes I will make one to drink quickly while I am showering and getting ready before I have time to eat a full meal. The hint of ginger in this one makes it taste nice and refreshing! Give this tropical green smoothie recipe a try and let me know what you think!

It must be the fact that it hasn’t been nearly as warm of a summer as usual but I haven’t been craving smoothies at all! I used to lovvvve green smoothies in the summer and this recipe is bomb, so I’m just going to cross my fingers that we have a crazy-hot August and then I can make these every morning 🙂

I can actually drink a smoothie no matter what the temperature is!:) But I agree that hot weather makes them much more enjoyable. Not sure I would wish for a super hot August, but I do hope you get to enjoy some more smoothies this summer!

Wonderful – I have been loving my smoothies again – and just froze more fruits (pineapple, mango, strawberries, bananas and peaches) … yum! 🙂

Sounds perfect! I usually just buy frozen fruit since the quality of the fresh fruit in our grocery store is really hit or miss. I do love trying out different combos though!

Right with you on that – I have ‘go to’ bags of frozen fruits I normally buy … but as it was the stuff was getting to the point it needed to be dealt with and the fruits were SO good right now!
