This week I participated in two virtual races. One was a virtual stroller 5k and the other was the virtual mcm 10k. While it was not ideal to run two races two days apart, it worked out ok. Here's how my week of workouts looked and a quick recap of these two races.

The 10k is a unique race distance in that you need both speed and endurance in order to race it well. However, the 10k can also serve as a stepping stone for newer runners from the 5k to longer distances. Whether your goal is to just cover the 10k distance, or to PR in your next 10k, here are some tips on how to train for a 10k race.

Over the past few months I've been gradually building mileage with my running. In October I hope to complete a virtual 10k, run a 40 mile week, and do a run streak for #rundestober. You can read more about my workouts from last week and my plans for this month in my weekly run down post.

19 miles! 7 on the treadmill, 12 outside, 1,272 to 19 miles! 7 on the treadmill, 12 outside, 1,272 total feet of elevation gain. Amazing weather. Listened to Life of a Showgirl on the treadmill and had some podcasts saved for my outside run but couldn’t get my headphones to connect. This was challenging by the end and I kept thinking how hard it would be if I needed to run another 7 miles today (and all miles at a faster pace) but this is why we train. Feeling like I’m in a good place with 6 weeks to go! How was your run today? #run #marathontraining #longrun
