10 Father’s Day Gift Ideas For Dads Who Run

Father’s Day is quickly approaching! If you’re like me you may be struggling to find the perfect gift in time for Father’s Day. Dads can be tough to shop for! However if the dad you are shopping for is a runner, then I’ve got you covered! Here is a list of gift ideas for dads who run or like to work out!

Father's Day is just a few weeks away! If you're like me you may be struggling to find the perfect gift in time for Father's Day. It seems like many dads don't really ask for anything and can be kind of picky about the things they do want. However if the dad you are shopping for is a runner, then I've got you covered! Here is a list of gift ideas for dads who run!

10 Father’s Day Gift Ideas For Dads Who Run

High Quality Socks

We know that wearing high quality socks during runs is important, but does the dad in your life ever treat himself to good running socks? Probably not. Some brands to look into are Thorlos, Darn Tough, and Swiftwick.

Hydration Pack

If the dad you are shopping for likes to do long distance races, make sure he has a hydration pack to keep him hydrated on those long runs! This is especially important in the summer. These packs are also nice because you can store other items in them, like your phone, keys, gels, etc. I recently bought my husband the Ultimate Direction Ultra Vest 5.0.

Handheld Water Bottle

For more recreational runners or dads who don’t do longer distances, a handheld water bottle makes a great gift. My husband used to always run with a plastic disposable water bottle, which is not only bad for the environment but also really uncomfortable to carry. The Nathan handheld bottles are small and lightweight, with a pocket for storage and a hand strap.

Body Glide

Everyone needs to have Body Glide on hand for summer runs, and its always good to have extra ones around the house! I recently started using Squirrels Nut Butter Anti Chafe Salve. It comes in a tub or a bar.

Aftershokz Headphones

Many dads like to zone out and listen to music while they run. Keep them safe by getting them a pair of Aftershokz Headphones, which allows you to also hear your surroundings. They’re wireless and connect to your phone via Bluetooth.

Massage Gun

Everyone can use a good massage gun, right? For dads who don’t like to foam roll, this is a great alternative. I’d recommend either the Theragun (I have the mini) or the Rooftree Percussion Massage gun.

Sunglasses for Dads Who Run

A great Father’s day gift idea for dads who run is a new pair of running sunglasses. Knockaround and Goodr both make fun, reasonably priced options!

Heart Rate Monitor Chest Strap

Does the dad you are shopping for have a hard time keeping his easy runs easy? Or does he love running data? Most GPS watches now come with a wrist-based heart rate monitor which isn’t always accurate. They can be paired with a chest strap for a better reading. Make sure whatever brand you purchase (Polar is a popular one) pairs with his watch, phone, or other device (like a treadmill or Peloton).

Resistance Bands

For dads who run but avoid strength training, a set of resistance bands can go a long way! These can be used to strengthen the hips and glutes and to warm up before a run.

Father’s Day Gift Card for Dads Who Run

When in doubt, gift cards are always appreciated for Father’s Day! You can get a dad who runs a gift card to your local running store, Running Warehouse, or anywhere else he likes to buy running gear and accessories.

Bonus: A Subscription to the RunnerBox

The RunnerBox is a woman-owned, small business located in Asheville, North Carolina. Their subscription boxes are jam packed with sports nutrition products, healthy snacks, energy bars, and other fun running items like chapsticks, muscle rubs, and many other awesome goodies.

Here is what was included in their June Box:

The RunnerBox

Their boxes are curated by a team of professional and elite athletes so you are getting items recommended by the pros. Subscription boxes cost as little as $29 every other month. A Runner Box is the perfect gift for the dads in your life who love to run!

It can be tough to come up with Fathers Day gift ideas, but I think it’s a little easier shopping for a dads who run! Hopefully this list gave you some ideas to get started.

Men always need new socks! Massage guns are always a nice idea. Great list!

They really do! And high quality running socks are so important.

My dad doesn’t run anymore but I’m sure he would appreciate a massage gun! These are great tips, Lisa.

Massage guns are great for just about anyone! I got my dad a gift card (he doesn’t run) and my husband I am still working on…but for his birthday last month I got him a hydration vest!

Nope. I wish my hubby would run but he does play tennis and some of those items are needed.

Yes many of these are good for anyone who is active!

Since my hubs doesn’t run, I may just pick up a few of these items for myself, lol! Is that wrong?

I dont see any problem with that!

Lots of great options and ideas here! My guy doesn’t run nearly as much as I do, especially in recent years, so he just helps himself to my gear, LOL

Well that works out pretty well for him!

Hmm, these ideas are probably better than what I was planning on getting my husband, which was some bartender tools for making cocktails. I should be encouraging him to run more rather than drink more! Thanks for the recommendations.

Ha! Its all about balance. There have been many holidays that I gave my husband beer glasses or koozies.

I’m woefully behind on Father’s Day. Ugh. I need to get on that.

  9. Debbie says

Great ideas. I think the problem with dads is that if they want something they go out and buy it! Makes it a little hard to pick a gift.

Socks have become my go-to gift for both my dad (who walks) and my husband (who runs)! Thank you for adding some more ideas!

Nope. My hubby doesn’t run but he does play tennis so so many of these items apply. He always needs socks and shoes…

All great ideas. My husband doesn’t run anymore, but he will be stealing my new massage gun when he gets home from his trip. It is known. Sigh.

19 miles! 7 on the treadmill, 12 outside, 1,272 to 19 miles! 7 on the treadmill, 12 outside, 1,272 total feet of elevation gain. Amazing weather. Listened to Life of a Showgirl on the treadmill and had some podcasts saved for my outside run but couldn’t get my headphones to connect. This was challenging by the end and I kept thinking how hard it would be if I needed to run another 7 miles today (and all miles at a faster pace) but this is why we train. Feeling like I’m in a good place with 6 weeks to go! How was your run today? #run #marathontraining #longrun
