For the past week (or two) I’ve felt like I’ve been hitting the ground running. Everything is getting so busy and happening so quickly! This was one of those weeks that flew by and I sort of wished it lasted longer so I could get more done. It’s been all about balancing work, stuff at home, workouts, and sleep as best as possible!
Teachers came back to work this week which for me meant helping with lots of trainings. (This is really all summer, but we try to make the most of the week that teachers are back without students yet). I am hoping things quite down a bit after Labor Day!
I also had a wedding this weekend. We drove up to NY on Saturday morning and back on Sunday morning. The wedding was at 10:15 so we were on the road at 5:30am. It was really fun to see some friends and family while I was there. Luckily we got home early on Sunday and I had time for a nap! Even without drinking weddings are exhausting.
Let’s take a look at last week’s workouts:
Monday: 5 miles and mobility
Started out my week with the usual 5 miles. It felt a little cooler but I wasn’t any faster. Luckily I don’t care at all about my pace because it keeps getting slower!
Tuesday: Strength Training and 2 mile incline walk
I got in my strength training workout and had some extra time so I opted to walk on the treadmill. I set it on an include which made it a little more challenging.
Wednesday: 6 mile fartlek run
I completed the same workout as last week:
1 mile warm up
2,3,4,5,4,3,2 minutes hard with 2 minute recoveries in between
cool down to 6 miles
Thursday: Strength training and 3 miles
By this point in the week I was just moving on autopilot. I didn’t even realize the weather was cooler and ran on the treadmill to save time after my strength workout.
Friday: 8 miles
This was a 4 am wakeup and out the door at 4:30 am kind of day. The cooler weather felt amazing! I had to be out the door for work by 7 and with my slower paces these days it takes me much longer to do a long run. I got in 8 miles and had just enough time to cool down, stretch, eat something, and get ready for work.
Saturday: 3 miles
Another early morning. Up at 4 and ran from 4:15-4:45. After a quick shower, last minute packing, and realizing my blow dryer was broken, we were on the road around 5:30.
Sunday: Rest day
I thought about doing yoga, but I think I mentally and physically needed a full day of rest!
Unfortunately blogging has really taken a backseat lately. I enjoy writing these weekly recaps on the weekends but I just haven’t had the time or energy to do much else throughout the week and my evenings have been spent catching up on work. Hopefully things will settle down in a few weeks!

How were your workouts last week?
How do you prioritize everything when life gets really busy?
Did you enjoy some cooler weather this week?
Linking up with Holly and Wendy for the Weekly Wrap!
the weather was so nice last week too but now they said it’s going to be hotter than it has all summer for this week. ugh!
It’s so tough to go from cooler weather back to the heat, especially this late in the summer!
Great job on the workouts and mileage this week! It’s wonderful you had some cooler weather to enjoy too. You look lovely in your wedding attire. I can’t remember the last wedding I attended! Other than my weekly posts, I haven’t been blogging much this whole year. But, at least the nature of these posts include everything that occurs during the week.
I’ve had alot of weddings over the past 10 years but they are starting to wind down now! You’re right that these weekly recaps are nice because we just put everything from the whole week in one post!
The fact that you’re still running at this point in your pregnancy is amazing! No need to worry about paces at all. Nice job!
I too have struggled with getting anything more than the Weekly Wrap on the blog and even that has been a challenge! Summer gets pretty crazy and while I miss blogging, it’s low on the priority list!
I have definitely noticed a trend with blogging over the past few years- summer is so much slower with getting posts out. But I think that’s good because it means we are doing other fun things!
Tuesday was nice and cool, then we got heat again. I know the cooler temps were below normal, and I liked it! Makes it so much easier for running. It can be tough to focus on the treadmill.
Its tough that it got so hot again! I think I’m ready for fall!
I feel you with blogging taking a backseat. Hey it’s all good. Great week for you despite being so busy. I agree weddings are exhausting. Especially pregnant!
I guess its good that blogging takes a backseat sometimes…it means we are out enjoying real life!
I loved that about being pregnant- running became just getting some miles in and no worries about pace. h Hope things settle down this week for you!
Thanks! Yes, it’s kind of nice to not care at all about pace right now!
Love the dress you wore for the wedding.
I was glad to be able to run while on vacation — great way to see the city.
Thank you! I bet London was an amazing city for running.
Great job with your workouts! The weather was so much nicer last week and I was hoping that meant fall was on its way, but unfortunately, we’re getting another heat wave this week, ugh! I haven’t been blogging as much as I would like either, especially since being injured it can be a little depressing LOL, but I’m starting to get my motivation again!
I barely blogged at all last summer when I stopped running for my foot injury! Its hard to write about running when you’re not running.
I love the dress you wore to the wedding! It looks very comfortable.
When life gets busy I prioritize the must dos (grocery shopping, work, puppy needs, cleaning) and then pick at least one want a day whether that’s running, relaxing with a glass of wine outside without stressing about other things or just taking 20 minutes to watch an episode of Parks & Rec. Having at least one want a day helps me not to feel so overwhelmed.
Thanks! And that sounds like a really good strategy. I’ve found that keeping up with my workouts helps me feel like I can accomplish everything else throughout the day. But its also nice to take some time to relax at the end of a long, busy day!
Super impressed that you can squeeze in the early morning miles and get out the door for work by 7!! When I’m busy, blogging definitely takes a back seat. I haven’t figured out how to have time for writing AND reading blog posts.
That’s the problem- if I’m writing a post I want to make sure to have time to read other posts as well, which can be pretty time consuming!
Great week of workouts! I know what you mean about weddings – I love them, but whenever we travel for one, I feel like I need a mini-vacation after the wedding.
Yes! They are so fun but really take a lot out of me. Between the travel, dressing up, dancing, staying up late they leave me exhausted.
I’m loving your workouts during your pregnancy. I worked out up until the week my sons were born, both pregnancies.
As you know, I pretty much had the same weather you did last week and it was amazing! I’m not loving what we’ve got now, though. LOL
That’s awesome that you worked out for your entire pregnancies! I have no idea what to expect but so far exercise has felt really good so I hope to keep up with it.
It’s so hard to adjust back to the hot and humid weather after that nice break last week!
You are doing great staying SO active, and all those miles 😉 You guys clean up nicely for a wedding 😉
Thank you!
I usually try to prioritize but I draw the line I getting up at 4 am! I don’t know how you do it!
It helps that I’m naturally a morning person, but getting out the door the early is tough even for me.
