As you have probably heard, the theme of this week over here on the east coast was rain, rain, and more rain. It just happened to be one of those weeks that was already particularly busy and stressful, and the weather just made it worse. I was never so happy to see Friday! This week was all about just continuing to put one foot in front of the other, both in running and in life.
One Foot in Front of the Other
Running
Tuesday was actually a nice day, but it feels like a distance memory at this point. Although I woke up to the sound of thunder, it cleared out and I was able to get outside for a run. Other than that, I was on the treadmill.
On Thursday I had to be at an all day meeting about 55 minutes away. Knowing the weather would be bad, I planned to leave the house before 6:00. So I was on the treadmill at 4:30 to get in a workout. It was a good thing I left that early because there was already traffic when I left and it took me an hour and 35 minutes to get there. The drive home was even worse, around 2 hours.
I had a feeling I would be on the treadmill for Saturday’s run. I think I was prepared for it so it wasn’t so bad. At least I’ve been outside much more lately so a few days on the treadmill wasn’t a big deal. I also knew I could just run as little or as much as I felt like.
Strength Training
I finished up week 6 of my plan. I’m not sure when I will start a new phase because I’ll be away and won’t have access to any equipment. So I might repeat week 6 early this week and then try to start the next phase in early June.
Yoga
My yoga worked this week wasn’t as intense as last week, but still a good one. I ended up doing spinning and yoga on the same day so my yoga routine was shorter.
Spinning
I followed another workout video this week and worked up a good sweat. It’s been nice to push a little harder on the bike since my mileage has been on the lower side and I haven’t done any speedwork.
Other Stuff
As I’ve said this week was hectic. Rob was away for work from Tuesday to Friday. I had to teach a course for teachers after school on Wednesday night. I felt like I did much more driving than usual this week and all the rain we had meant there was tons of traffic. Thursday and Friday I had all day meetings/conferences which meant I am way behind on my regular work. The good news is that May is always over which means hopefully things will settle down soon!

Who else has been dealing with non-stop rain this week?
How were your workouts last week?
Do you ever feel like you just need to put one foot in front of the other and keep going?

Sometimes you just have to muscle through the week! That will be me this week. I picked up extra hours to cover for one of my partners who is out of town.
Have a great week!

Good luck with your busy schedule this week! Hopefully you get to enjoy a long weekend once you make it through.

Blech to all the rain. Sounds like you made the best of it though. We really lucked out in La Crosse as it was warmer and nicer there than it was in Chicago. Today here at home it’s cold with heavy t’storms coming soon.
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
Yuck. I’m used to the thunderstorms this time of year but not the chilly weather!

The rain has been killer this past week! And on the days it wasn’t raining, the humidity was killing me. I thought I was going to have a break on Tuesday night but then I had to basically spring 1.25 miles home so I didn’t get caught in the storm. It was crazy!
It looks like the east coast is getting a bit of the break with rain this week though. Hopefully you can get outside more!
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
The forecast definitely looks better this week! But I’m sure we will still have some humidity to deal with.
Deborah @ Confessions of mother runner says
I think we have finally come out the other side of the rain. I’ve been crazy busy too hope we both have a better week this week
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
I hope so too! Last week was a tough one.
Sarah @ Bucket List Tummy says
It sounds like you had a great variety of workouts this week, despite the rain!
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
Yes, it worked out pretty well overall!

I can’t believe we are nearing the end of May already. As much as this rain we have been having stinks, I’d rather take that then cold and snow. Summer is just around the corner.
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
That’s true! I guess we just need to get through this rain to eventually get summer weather.
Kimberly Hatting says
All of that rain would certainly have me in a grouchy mood. Even with a treadmill (remember Milly?), I’d probably just skip running until the weather turned dry. I can’t remember the last time her and I spent any time together LOL
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
It was tempting to just skip all my runs, but I know I always feel better when I get something in!
Kim G says
The theme was definitely rain last week! Luckily this week is looking much better 🙂
Great job on getting in all those workouts, especially during a super busy week.
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
Thanks! Hopefully this will be a better week with some sunnier weather!
Jennifer @ Fit Nana says
We’ve definitely had rain but not as much as you guys up there. But, all that wetness has really spiked the humidity and I look like I’ve been out running in the rain when I haven’t. lol You’re lucky you have a treadmill – I have to go to the Y if the weather is too bad to be outside and they don’t have the most convenient hours, especially on the weekends.
Memorial Day weekend involves running and CrossFit for me. I’m going to be too tired to BBQ! LOL
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
I’ve definitely been grateful for my treadmill on rainy days, even though I would rather be running outside now that its finally warm out. Sounds like you have a busy and active Memorial Day weekend planned!
Laura @ This Runner's Recipes says
It sounds like you’ve been busy! It hasn’t rained much here, which is always a welcome break after the non-stop winter rain.
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
That’s so nice that you have had a break from the rain! Hope your nice weather continues.
Denise @ runheartfit says
No rain for us here in California…as much as we need it! It never rains enough to resort to running on a treadmill. Looks like you got in other workouts regardless. Wishing for some sunshine for you!
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
It’s too bad we cant just send some of our rain your way!
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
We haven’t had non stop rain up here, but there’s definitely been a lot of rainy days. Whatever doesn’t kill you, right?
Ugh! 2 hours in traffic! So glad I don’t have to deal with that. That would drive me insane.
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
The traffic here is always so bad! Luckily most days I don’t deal with traffic but whenever I have to drive to another part of the county it can take forever.
meredith @ cookie chrunicles says
the rain was the worst! I definitely don’t do well with so many rainy days in a row. I’m hopeful that after it rains a bit today that we are on a better, sunnier course!
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
I am hopeful too! That was just too many days of rain in a row.
Erinn says
I can’t believe you got up at 4:30 am for a run before work! That is crazy…but where there’s a will, there’s a way!! Nice job!
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
I knew I would feel better throughout the day if I got a run in first!
HoHo Runs says
We didn’t have the forecasted rain last week, just its accompanying humidity. This week is another story though. It’s nice you have the treadmill option when you need it and the indoor spinning too. A long commute just makes an already stressful day…over the top. I’m glad it’s not often I have to deal with that. Thanks for linking!
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
I agree traffic and a long commute is rough! I’m also glad I don’t deal with that every day. I hoe the weather cools off for you!
San says
I love all the different workouts you incorporate into your week. I must get better at that.
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
It’s been nice to change things up. I am not a runner who can just run every single day!
