Month in Review: June 2018

June really flew by, and was maybe my favorite month so far this year. We finally started to have not only warm but also SUNNY weather, especially on the weekends. Running wasn’t easy due to the heat but I got almost all of my runs done outside. And I feel like I got into a good routine with running, spinning, strength training, and yoga.

Now that June is over it's time to look back on goals for the month. Click post to read how I'm doing with my yearly goals and what I accomplished this month #goals #running #fitness

Here are my other monthly check-ins from this year:
January 2018
February 2018
March 2018
April 2018
May 2018

GOALS FOR 2018

It's that time of year to start planing ahead for 2018. I have set some goals for the year, as well as some "dream goals". Click post to read more.

There wasn’t too much progress with my goals this month. I’ve continued tracking my shoe mileage and have actually gotten back in the habit of doing it daily. I am pretty sure my Pure Flows are done, even though they only have a little over 300 miles on them. They just feel worn out.

I went to the chiropractor a few times this month as my back will randomly bother me. Yoga has seemed to continue helping too.

I didn’t read any books this month! I’m not sure how that happened but like I said this month just went by so quickly!

JUNE 2018 GOALS

My goals for June were to focus on strength training and mobility, and to acclimate to the heat. I think I did pretty well with these! Strength training happened twice a week and I added in mobility work 1-3 times per week. I guess you can say I am acclimated to the heat, but my paces are still slower.

GOAL SETTING FOR JULY 2018

July is going to be a busy month again with two trips and lots of stuff going on for work. I think my goal will just be to keep up with my regular workout routine. I feel like I have found a good balance of everything and I don’t want to stop doing my supplemental workouts as I get busier! Also, I hope to read at least one book this month, especially since I will be away for a few days.

So glad to hear that your June was so good. I love it when you find a good workout groove. Hope your July is just as good. Enjoy your travels! 🙂

Glad June was good for you!

June was a frustrating month for me, running-wise. The heat and humidity really took a toll on me, physically and mentally. I actually entertained thoughts of giving it up, which I know is crazy! A few cool days helped reaffirm that it’s still in me and that helped.

I feel like I get those types of thoughts in the winter! I hope July is a better month for you!

Looks like it is time to replace the PureFlow. I bought the 7 but has to return them because my left leg and calf would hurt after each run. Yesterday I purchased the new Ghost 11 and am looking forward to wearing them soon.

I love going to the chiropractor. I haven’t been in months and need to go again since I will be running more miles for the next couple of months.

I did good in June. Ran over 100 miles which is one of my monthly goals. I just need to start doing some cross or strength training.

Sounds like a great month for you! I bought another pair of the Pure Flow 6s since I know they work for me. I’m also trying out the Pure Cadences for a little more stability on some runs.

June definitely seemed to go by quickly. We had a push at work for year-end activities to be done by the end of the month, so that kept us busy. Add in the days I took off for my gum graft, and all of a sudden it was mid-month. It went by so fast I’m still thinking it’s June.

Same here! I keep having to remind myself that it’s July.

Well, my spring typically is my crazy time of the year…but that will be changing now as we’re done with Prom and dance recitals ;-( I always seem to have races happening, so summer isn’t typically any more busy in that respect, but I will be upping my mileage later this month as I dive into marathon training.

I always feel so much busier when I’m marathon training! But in a good way, of course:)

I’ve been feeling burnt out with all this heat and humidity. I missed a few long runs in June and have had a hard time “getting into” my marathon training plan. Luckily this has been a base building month so not super essential to the training plan yet. Hopefully we get some better weather earlier this year than last!

It was a tough month with the heat and humidity! I hope that the weather improves as you get into your longer runs!

My shoes always feel worn out way before the 500 miles they say. I usually replace mine every 4 months or so. I think running in the rain and all different temps cause them to break down faster. Or I am just hard on my shoes!

      July 4, 2018 at 5:07 pm

Running in all the elements may have something to do with it! Sometimes I can get mine close to 400 miles but not more than that.

my energy boosts are suddenly burned out too! I got more time out of them since I’m running less but I always know when I’m somewhere over 300 because I feel it right away.

I feel like I was able to wear these shoes for a long time because I was rotating with my Levitates and not running a ton of mileage, but still I could feel it right when they hit around 300 miles!

I’m glad that June went well for you!! The heat has been out of control lately, it’s tough to get out there but I’m glad your pace didn’t suffer too much!

Thanks! I think it’s time for this heat wave to be over!

Even though the heat often made June running a challenge, summer flies by so fast I’m glad it felt summery. Personally I’ve been more on track with crosstraining than I have my running and that’s ok too.

Listened to Life of a Showgirl on the treadmill and had some podcasts saved for my outside run but couldn’t get my headphones to connect. This was challenging by the end and I kept thinking how hard it would be if I needed to run another 7 miles today (and all miles at a faster pace) but this is why we train. Feeling like I’m in a good place with 6 weeks to go! How was your run today? #run #marathontraining #longrun

The long runs are getting longer, and I’m slowly feeling like my fitness is building. I can’t believe that by the time October is over I’ll be getting ready to taper for the marathon! Let’s hope October brings lots of good miles and maybe some cooler weather. Was September a good month of running for you? #september #marathontraining #running
