Florida Pics, Trader Joes, and My First Stitch Fix

Canal View

I can already tell this is going to be one of those posts that is all over the place! That's ok, I guess. This week is a little all over the place. I came back from Florida on Tuesday night but was off yesterday. (When I booked my flight back I was supposed to have a dentist appointment so I took the day off but left Florida a day before Rob. My appointment got changed but it was too expensive to switch my flight.) It was ... Read the Post...

November Running & Goals Check-In

November Running and Goals Check In

Welcome to December, the last month of 2016. How did that happen? I feel like I was just setting my initial goals for the year. A few months ago I reassessed my goals to account for a long injury that derailed some of my plans. So today I will look back on my November running and how I did with my new goals this month.  I would say this month was pretty similar to October in terms of mileage. However, I didn't ... Looking for the perfect gift for a runner? (Or for yourself?) Check out this holiday gift guide, with everything from gadgets to fuel to books and more!

Now that Thanksgiving is over, it feels we are heading full speed into holiday mode. I've been shopping for others and making a list of things that catch my eye along the way. I don't know about you, but I love holiday gift guides for new ideas. So just like in 2014 and 2015, I have put together a list of gift ideas for runners. I tried to include many different kinds of ideas, from books to gadgets to fuel and more. ... Read the Post...

Workouts, Thanksgiving, and a Cold

3 miles

For pretty much the past week I have been fighting off an annoying cold. Last Sunday night my throat started to hurt, and was the worst for most of the day on Monday. (Just in time to give 3 presentations!) Since then it's sort of lingered, never really becoming a full cold but just enough to make me more tired and make working out a little more difficult.  Luckily it was a short work week, but those three days ... Getting my hair untangled was a harder workout tha Getting my hair untangled was a harder workout than running 15 miles. When will it actually feel like fall? #running #marathontraining #fallrunning
15 mile long run workout this morning! Honestly, e 15 mile long run workout this morning! Honestly, every step of this felt challenging, so I’m pretty happy that I still hit my paces. I’m going to blame it on the humidity. WHY is it still so warm and humid when it’s almost October 😩🥵 I made the mistake of leaving my hair in a ponytail so of course it was a tangled mess by the time I was done. When will I learn? Just glad I got this done to wrap up week 9 of @richmondmarathon training! Is it still humid where you are? #run #marathontraining #richmondmarathon #longrun
Yesterday’s’ long run was 16 miles with 6 x 1 Yesterday’s’ long run was 16 miles with 6 x 1 mile MP/1 mile easy. I took a few hours of PTO in the morning to do this on the trail because I knew wouldn’t be able to do it this weekend. This was my first time on the trail since my marathon last November. It was nice to be back there and the perfect place to do this kind of long run. It was the kind of run where you start thinking “ok cool I just did a tough MP workout” but then you remember you actually need to run 26 miles in a row at that pace. Luckily there’s still 9 more weeks of training…although that doesn’t really sound like that much!
41 miles for the week and got in 2 strength sessions. Taking it easy this weekend other than chasing the kids around for all their activities! #run #marathontraining #longrun
It’s kind of freeing to not care about pace. It It’s kind of freeing to not care about pace. It is a little frustrating to have to plan more time for an easy run. But it’s definitely worth it to recover quicker and feel better on workout days! #run #marathongtraining #easyrun
