Is It Really Spring Now?

It’s finally starting to warm up a bit, but I still have my doubts that spring is here to stay. The forecast for next week is encouraging though. Is it really spring now?

We had quite a bit of rain this week which is usually a sign of spring here in Maryland. We sort of lucked out because most of the rain was in the middle of the night/early morning. I was actually woken up several times because the rain was so heavy and did my runs on the treadmill those days.

Otherwise, it was a pretty standard week. I kept up with yoga which is a huge win for me! It’s funny because it actually wasn’t my running that got me back onto my mat. It was feeling stiff and tight in my upper body, probably from working on my computer. I do think the yoga is helping and I really hope I can stick with it!

Weekly Wrap: Is It Really Spring Now?

Here is how the week looked:

Monday: 4 miles (outside!)

It was my first time running outside during the week in forever! Probably since early March. It was so nice to see the sunrise and get some fresh air to start the day!

monday run
Tuesday: Strength training and 20 minute spin bike

This was just the usually Tuesday strength workout plus cross-training. I always try to get at least a few minutes done on the spin bike early in the week otherwise I tend to skip it. It’s not much, but better than nothing.

strength training

Wednesday: 3 miles and yoga

In order to make time for yoga, I have to keep my runs a little shorter, but that’s ok. I was trying to think back on what kind of yoga class I did but I honestly can’t even remember. That’s the kind of week it’s been!

Thursday: Strength training

I am so set on my usual Tuesday/Thursday strength days but in hindsight I should have moved them around this week! I ended up staying inside to strength train on the nice mornings and running on the rainy mornings.

Friday: 2.5 miles and yoga

It was raining again so I hopped on the treadmill. However, I had some technical difficulties with the treadmill so my planned 3 miles turned into 2.5 instead. I am proud of myself for making time for yoga rather than adding on more miles!

friday run

Saturday: 6 miles

This run was kind of a struggle because I didn’t sleep well on Friday night. I had been up since the 3 o’clock hour and decided to just head out the door around 6 hoping that a run would help me feel better. It was super foggy to the point where it was a little creepy. I stayed close to home and cut it at 6 since I just wasn’t feeling it.

foggy run

 Sunday: Rest day

I am excited for spring weather for other reasons than just for running. You know, like just being warm in general! It will be really nice to get outside for more runs even though I am sure I will still use the treadmill for a few runs each week. There really is just something nice about getting some fresh air to start the day!

Great week, and nice work sticking with strength and yoga! I am loving spring in Atlanta right now but I’m dreading our hot, humid summer that seems to last until November.

It did “kinda” feel like Spring last week and it will feel like summer this week as we’re expected to hit 80 degrees on Wednesday (even though the high temp today is 55 degrees. lol).

Nice job on your workouts last week! I’m so impressed with your dedication to yoga. That’s something I really need to work on

I’m not sure how long I will stick with it, but I’m try trying to make it a priority this month!

The fog on Saturday morning was crazy! I felt like it came out of no where. I stayed close to home that morning since the fog gives it a creepy feeling out.

It really did feel creepy, right? It was such a weird morning.

I love yoga! I don’t make enough time for it, and I always regret that because I feel stiff and sore. It really does help!

I usually go months without yoga, and then when I finally start it up again I remember how good it feels!

I think we all had a feeling we would skip spring this year and go right to summer! It seems like that is probably going to happen!

I hope the yoga is helping loosen you up! I was kind of neglecting all that and so today I’m getting on the mat for an epic session. Have a great week.

I think it’s finally spring! (or maybe even summer??? It’s supposed to be in the 80s this week)…although this morning it was 32 degrees and I was back in tights for my morning run!

I will say I’m wary still since we got a snow storm in mid-May last year. If it decides to stay with rain, I’ll be OK. It was gorgeous this weekend and I got outside for my 6 miles on Saturday. I was definitely warm at the end, and I loved it!

Last week was the week I put away my heavy winter coat and actually wore sandals one day! I love the change of seasons so much. Great job on getting the yoga in. It really makes a difference.

That is a very creepy picture! I need to make more time for yoga. I have been pretty good about doing it once a week, but twice would probably be better. When short on time, I do tend to cut out everything else to get the miles in. It’s been so warm here for so long, it’s hard to imagine how others are still suffering with the cold weather. I hope you get a nice Spring week this week! Thanks for linking.

I’ve always been one to put the miles ahead of everything else. Since I’m not training for anything right now, I am hoping to make sure yoga and strength training are priorities too!

WE had little glimpses of spring last week and then i had ice on my windshield this morning. At least the forecast says it will be 80 on Wednesday. Maybe we’ll go straight to summer this year?

I sincerely hope Spring is really here to stay…though it kind of felt like summer today (not complaining!) We have had ZERO precip since all the snow finally ended. We need rain (I can’t believe I’m typing that)..but I think we’re supposed to rain in the next couple days.

      May 1, 2018 at 5:15 am

Its supposed to be in the 80s here tomorrow! I guess I’m kind of glad it rained here when it was still chilly so we can hopefully have some warmer days without rain.

I sort of think spring is really here now too! I dont want to jinx it. it’s so nice to see the early sun and decent temperatures for. running outside now during the week. before we know it, we will be complaining about the heat and humidity. ha.

It was 82 here yesterday and will be the same today. I think we went straight to summer. I cut runs short when I have to but other stuff gets cut first.

Last week was warm enough to wear shorts here – high 70s! Our spring weather has been pretty standard so far but it was nice to have some extra sunny days.

It seems we went straight from winter to summer here! And the sun is always a nice treat.

Yesterday’s’ long run was 16 miles with 6 x 1 Yesterday’s’ long run was 16 miles with 6 x 1 mile MP/1 mile easy. I took a few hours of PTO in the morning to do this on the trail because I knew wouldn’t be able to do it this weekend. This was my first time on the trail since my marathon last November. It was nice to be back there and the perfect place to do this kind of long run. It was the kind of run where you start thinking “ok cool I just did a tough MP workout” but then you remember you actually need to run 26 miles in a row at that pace. Luckily there’s still 9 more weeks of training…although that doesn’t really sound like that much!
41 miles for the week and got in 2 strength sessions. Taking it easy this weekend other than chasing the kids around for all their activities! #run #marathontraining #longrun
It’s kind of freeing to not care about pace. It It’s kind of freeing to not care about pace. It is a little frustrating to have to plan more time for an easy run. But it’s definitely worth it to recover quicker and feel better on workout days! #run #marathongtraining #easyrun
You know marathon training is starting to get real You know marathon training is starting to get real when you start losing track of what training week it is. I had to check my calendar but this was week 6, so 10 weeks to go!

I ran the Charles Street 12 last weekend so this week was all about easy miles and recovering from the race. That went well until I went and ran all the hills yesterday followed by walking around a maze and fun park for 5 hours. I got in some strength and mobility this morning and now I’m back to focusing on recovery!

If you’re training for a race how many weeks do you have left?

15 miles, over 1,100 feet of elevation gain, and 9 15 miles, over 1,100 feet of elevation gain, and 91% humidity 🫠 Pretty sure that was harder than my race last weekend, but got it done. Now off to my second workout of the day- taking the kids to an outdoor fun park. RIP to my legs.
What are you up to this weekend?
