Hawaii Workouts Plus Jet Lag

beach run

I am back from an amazing 10 days in Hawaii, but not without a bit of jet lag to make the return extra challenging. Losing 6 hours of time isn't easy, plus we took a red-eye from Maui to LA, so I basically didn't sleep on Tuesday night. We were back at work on Thursday after getting into Baltimore at 6pm on Wednesday, but I think all the Starbucks initially powered me through. The exhaustion actually caught up with ... Letting Go Of Control

Mile by Mile Running

I have another repost this week, as I'm just getting back from vacation (more about that next week) so I planned ahead knowing that I wouldn't be up for writing any new content this week. Once again, this is a post that I think still applies in many ways and will always be something I am working on. However, it's amazing how much things have changed and in some ways that was for the best. I have been forced to get go of ... Read the Post...

Balancing Training and Life {Repost}

This is  post I wrote back in January 2014, just 5 months after starting my blog. I only had a few readers back then, so I thought I would share this again because I think it always applies! Well, except that I'm not training right now. However, balancing health and life always applies, right?   I haven’t been talking much lately about wine, although I thought it would be a part of the focus of this ... Read the Post...

What Were They Thinking? Funny Search Terms That Brought People to my Blog

what were they thinking

As I was looking through some of my blog stats a few weeks ago to write my 3 year blogiversary post, I was very amused by some of the random search terms that have brought people to my blog. I thought I would share some of them today, and think out loud about what these people were thinking!   "wine running gear" Is "wine running" a thing? or did they mean running gear with a wine theme? Either way, my ... Read the Post...

Getting my hair untangled was a harder workout tha Getting my hair untangled was a harder workout than running 15 miles. When will it actually feel like fall? #running #marathontraining #fallrunning
15 mile long run workout this morning! Honestly, e 15 mile long run workout this morning! Honestly, every step of this felt challenging, so I’m pretty happy that I still hit my paces. I’m going to blame it on the humidity. WHY is it still so warm and humid when it’s almost October 😩🥵 I made the mistake of leaving my hair in a ponytail so of course it was a tangled mess by the time I was done. When will I learn? Just glad I got this done to wrap up week 9 of @richmondmarathon training! Is it still humid where you are? #run #marathontraining #richmondmarathon #longrun
Yesterday’s’ long run was 16 miles with 6 x 1 Yesterday’s’ long run was 16 miles with 6 x 1 mile MP/1 mile easy. I took a few hours of PTO in the morning to do this on the trail because I knew wouldn’t be able to do it this weekend. This was my first time on the trail since my marathon last November. It was nice to be back there and the perfect place to do this kind of long run. It was the kind of run where you start thinking “ok cool I just did a tough MP workout” but then you remember you actually need to run 26 miles in a row at that pace. Luckily there’s still 9 more weeks of training…although that doesn’t really sound like that much!
41 miles for the week and got in 2 strength sessions. Taking it easy this weekend other than chasing the kids around for all their activities! #run #marathontraining #longrun
It’s kind of freeing to not care about pace. It It’s kind of freeing to not care about pace. It is a little frustrating to have to plan more time for an easy run. But it’s definitely worth it to recover quicker and feel better on workout days! #run #marathongtraining #easyrun
