Top 5 Important Recovery Tips for Runners

Recovery is so important for runners! It doesn't need to be complicated, but it needs to be consistent. Here are my top 5 important recovery tips for runners. #running #runningtips

Most runners are aware of the importance of recovery, but it can be difficult to always focus on recovering properly. I've found that when I'm not training for a race, I don't always focus on recovery as much as I should. Especially if I am still running pretty regularly. These top 5 important recovery tips for runners are simple but crucial. I am using this as a reminder to focus on my own recovery, and I hope you will ... Read the Post...

Race Across Maryland Week 1 (Miles 0-39)

long run

This week I started the Race Across Maryland. The goal is to run 250 miles across Maryland in 60 days. I'm hoping to mostly run the distance, but I am tracking my walks too. This week I ran 30.2 miles and walked 8.8 miles. I hadn't been tracking my walks prior to this week so it was interesting to look at how far I walk each day when I go on stroller walks with Grayson! This was a pretty good week of workouts. Towards ... Read the Post...

What It’s Like To Stroller Run With a 1 Year Old

Stroller running at different ages brings many unique challenges. Stroller running with a 1 year old has been very different than when I ran with a baby. Here is what its been like to stroller run with a 1 year old. #running #strollerrunning #motherrunner

It's been a few months since I wrote specifically about stroller running. I have now been running with a stroller for a full year! The whole experience has changed so much in that year. I know it will continue to change as my son gets older, but I thought I would share what it's been like recently to stroller run with a 1 year old.  Around the time Grayson turned 1 (mid-December) I found that running with him in ... The Magic of June Running

improve form

We are already halfway through June. Can you believe that? And finally, I got what I've been asking for- warm weather. Sometimes a little too warm, but I'm not complaining (much). I love this time of year, especially right now when we still have some nice days mixed in with the super-gross-humid days. As I've thought back over the past few years, I've been reflecting on the magic of June running. Other than 2016, June ... Read the Post...

15 mile long run workout this morning! Honestly, e 15 mile long run workout this morning! Honestly, every step of this felt challenging, so I’m pretty happy that I still hit my paces. I’m going to blame it on the humidity. WHY is it still so warm and humid when it’s almost October 😩🥵 I made the mistake of leaving my hair in a ponytail so of course it was a tangled mess by the time I was done. When will I learn? Just glad I got this done to wrap up week 9 of @richmondmarathon training! Is it still humid where you are? #run #marathontraining #richmondmarathon #longrun
Yesterday’s’ long run was 16 miles with 6 x 1 Yesterday’s’ long run was 16 miles with 6 x 1 mile MP/1 mile easy. I took a few hours of PTO in the morning to do this on the trail because I knew wouldn’t be able to do it this weekend. This was my first time on the trail since my marathon last November. It was nice to be back there and the perfect place to do this kind of long run. It was the kind of run where you start thinking “ok cool I just did a tough MP workout” but then you remember you actually need to run 26 miles in a row at that pace. Luckily there’s still 9 more weeks of training…although that doesn’t really sound like that much!
41 miles for the week and got in 2 strength sessions. Taking it easy this weekend other than chasing the kids around for all their activities! #run #marathontraining #longrun
It’s kind of freeing to not care about pace. It It’s kind of freeing to not care about pace. It is a little frustrating to have to plan more time for an easy run. But it’s definitely worth it to recover quicker and feel better on workout days! #run #marathongtraining #easyrun
You know marathon training is starting to get real You know marathon training is starting to get real when you start losing track of what training week it is. I had to check my calendar but this was week 6, so 10 weeks to go!

I ran the Charles Street 12 last weekend so this week was all about easy miles and recovering from the race. That went well until I went and ran all the hills yesterday followed by walking around a maze and fun park for 5 hours. I got in some strength and mobility this morning and now I’m back to focusing on recovery!

If you’re training for a race how many weeks do you have left?
