Somehow it’s Monday again already, but this week I’m feeling much better about writing up a weekly recap. Rather than complaining about the cold/rain/etc., I am writing about our heat wave and my outdoor runs! And I’m not complaining about the heat (yet). There was quite a bit going on this week so this post will be a little different than usual. Let’s get right to it!
Running
Of course, let’s start by talking about running! It gradually went from chilly to HOT this week. Like on Monday morning it was 30 degrees, and we hit the mid 90s by later in the week. I ran outside on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. On Tuesday I was wishing I had worn gloves.
And on Thursday I was in shorts and a talk top!
It was supposed to rain over the weekend but luckily the mornings were pretty dry so I got in a run on Saturday morning. It was amazing how green everything was compared to just a week ago!
Strength Training
I completed my strength training workouts on Monday and Wednesday this week. I realized last week I did week 3 again instead of week 4, so this week I did week 4. (There are some slightly different reps each week). So I will probably just add on another week to this phase to make sure I get all the weeks done. I also got in some spinning on Monday after my strength workout.
Yoga
I kept up with yoga this week! I did short sessions after my Tuesday and Friday runs.
Running Products
This week I received my May Stridebox, with lots of fun products as usual.
I tried the Honey Stinger Snack Bar and it was really good, but kind of messy! It has chocolate on the outside which crumbled as soon as I took a bite, so I needed to move to a table to eat it rather than while sitting on the couch wearing white pants.
I’ve also been testing out Google Clips! I’ll be doing a full review in a few weeks, but so far I’ve enjoyed it! Basically it’s a tiny camera that takes pictures when it senses that someone is in the frame.
Other news
I became an aunt again this weekend! Rob’s sister and her husband welcomed their second little girl into the world on Saturday afternoon. We are all so excited!
I think I have said this before but May is such a busy month! Between lots going on at work and traveling I may not be blogging quite as much, so be sure to follow me on Instagram!

Great week of workouts! Your niece is so precious. I am intrigued by this camera; can’t wait to read your post about it.
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
Thanks! And its been interesting to test out the camera so far! I’m excited to share more about it.

How exciting another nice! It was very hot here as well but I am not complaining either. Those strid boxes look like they are getting better. I used to get those a few years ago but did not use the contents of the box but I may have to try those again.
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
Its hard to complain about the heat after we’ve been complaining about the cold for so long!
Wendy says
Congrats on your new niece! She’s so cute!
I’m really interested in hearing more about that Google clips. I’ve never heard of it, so it looks like you are on the cusp of something new and exciting!
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
Thank you! I had never heard of the Google Clips either. It’s a cool concept.
Maureen says
The weather was crazy this week! I can’t believe we were wearing layers a two weeks ago and then last week was in the 90s. I need the actual spring time weather to adjust haha.
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
An adjustment period really would have been nice, but oh well!
Kimberly G says
The weather last week was really insane! I couldn’t believe how incredibly hot it was on Wednesday/Thursday.
Congrats on becoming an aunt again!

It really was unbelievable. And thank you!

Thanks! I can’t wait to meet her!

Aww congrats Auntie! How sweet! I haven’t tried that HS bar but that’s too bad its so messy. What were they thinking?? Yeah spring/summer has exploded here but we still get some really cold temps too. I’ll just go with it…like I have a choice.
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
Thanks! I’m also just trying to roll with the temperatures and I’m just glad that it seems like winter is finally over.
AmyC says
The jump in the weather last week was really crazy! You did a great job of dealing with it. I had a warm run yesterday and it was tough. I’m looking forward to hearing more about that little camera 😉
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
It’s not easy running in the heat especially when it came on so fast. I just remind myself that I’ve been asking for this for months now!
Lesley says
I haven’t seen those snack bars yet. I’ll have to look out for them since I like Honey Stinger waffles.
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
They’re really good! Nice and chocolatey.
Laura says
Yes, this time of year is so crazy! I’ve cut back my blogging a bit too. Nice work on your workouts! And congrats on a new sweet niece!
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
Thank you!
Laura @ This Runner's Recipes says
Congrats on your new niece – she is so precious! I’m curious to try the Honey Stinger bar in this month’s StrideBox. We had a couple abnormally warm days recently – it got up to 80, which is like 90 for us!
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
Thanks! That’s crazy that is was so hot for you too. What is up with the weather lately?
Kimberly Hatting says
Yes, a heat wave in Iowa ushered us quickly into summer, and I’m NOT complaining 😉 I do prefer a bit of a transition, but I’m not crying over it LOL Congrats on the new little darling, Aunt Lisa!! The big sister looks pretty proud
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
A transition would have been nice, but oh well! And thank you- yes the big sister is very excited.
Jenny says
I haven’t tried the Honey Stinger snack bar, but I love Skratch energy chews. I buy the orange and raspberry flavor to fuel my long runs.
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
I’m excited to try the energy chews! Good to know that you like them.
angela @ happy fit mama says
The heat wave last week was absolutely wonderful! You won’t hear me complaining about it at all. Bring on the warmth! May is absolutely crazy every single year. So much hustle before summer kicks off .
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
The heat wave was a nice change from the cold and now I’m really enjoying this week with more moderate temps!
Christine says
Congrats on your new niece! I’m so happy to finally be complaining about heat and humidity than cold weather. I’ll take it any day over the awful winter we had!
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
Thanks! I agree, I would much rather be complaining about the heat than the cold!
Sara says
Great job with your workouts!
We seemed to have skipped from winter right in to summer! I can’t complain too much this week though….it finally feels like spring now.
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
Thanks! It really was a crazy jump in temps. This week has been so nice I’m just wondering how long it will last!
Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says
Awww, congrats on the new niece. What a sweet picture! Yep, time to put away all of my cold weather running gear so I can be reunited with my tank tops and shorts! Which also means I have too much gear because I have to “rotate it” . 🙂
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
Haha I hear you on having too much gear! At least my summer running clothes take up less room in my closet than my winter stuff.
HoHo Runs says
I’m always amazed at how the trees seem to turn green practically overnight! I’m glad you had a nice mostly warm week for running. Congrats on the new family member! I think some Auntie spoiling is in order. Thanks for linking.
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
Thank you! And it really has been amazing to see everything turn green so quickly. Finally, a sign that spring is here!
