There are several strategies that can help you to get faster as a runner. Try to adjust your training using a few of these ideas to help you become a faster runner.

Most runners ultimately want to run faster, right? Maybe not every day, but overall it's nice to be able to measure progress with our speed. 6 Month Check-In on my 2024 Running Intentions

I usually set goals at the start of the year but I don't always check in on them throughout the year. So now that we are halfway through the year I thought this would be a good time to check in and see how they are going!

Instead of New Year's Resolutions this year, I set some running intentions back in January to help me work towards some bigger goals as I am returning to running postpartum. I usually set goals at the start of the year but I don't always check in on them throughout the year. So now that we are halfway through the year I thought this would be a good time to do 6 month check-in and see how they are going! 6 Month ... Read the Post...

Why and How to Run a 5k Time Trial to Test Your Fitness

5k time trials are a great way to challenge yourself and test your fitness. They can be done whenever works best for your schedule and you can choose your own route. If you put some planning into a 5k time trial you will be more likely to have a successful race. Here are my best tips about why and how to run a 5k time trial to test your fitness.

This spring I have spent some time focusing on the 5k distance. Even though I was still doing long runs, it was helpful to work on my speed as I was returning to running postpartum. My official 5k PR is from 2013, and I am not in a place to hit that time right now, but I did want to get my time down a bit. It seemed like a great time to do a 5k time trial, or better yet, multiple ones! Due to my pregnancies/postpartum ... Read the Post...

How Marathon Runners Can Maximize Time Off Between Goal Races

Marathons take a huge toll on the body and most of us can't run more than 2 a year. So that gives us a few other months each year to focus on other things. So how can marathon runners maximize time off between goal races? There are plenty of important things to focus on!

As many runners know, marathons can be addicting. We might sign up for one saying "I'll just do this once". Then before you know it you're signed up for your second, and there's no turning back. However, marathons take a huge toll on the body and most of us can't run more than 2 a year. Sometimes even just 1 is enough! So that gives us a few other months each year to focus on other things. So how can marathon runners ... Read the Post...

Yesterday’s’ long run was 16 miles with 6 x 1 Yesterday’s’ long run was 16 miles with 6 x 1 mile MP/1 mile easy. I took a few hours of PTO in the morning to do this on the trail because I knew wouldn’t be able to do it this weekend. This was my first time on the trail since my marathon last November. It was nice to be back there and the perfect place to do this kind of long run. It was the kind of run where you start thinking “ok cool I just did a tough MP workout” but then you remember you actually need to run 26 miles in a row at that pace. Luckily there’s still 9 more weeks of training…although that doesn’t really sound like that much!
41 miles for the week and got in 2 strength sessions. Taking it easy this weekend other than chasing the kids around for all their activities! #run #marathontraining #longrun
It’s kind of freeing to not care about pace. It It’s kind of freeing to not care about pace. It is a little frustrating to have to plan more time for an easy run. But it’s definitely worth it to recover quicker and feel better on workout days! #run #marathongtraining #easyrun
You know marathon training is starting to get real You know marathon training is starting to get real when you start losing track of what training week it is. I had to check my calendar but this was week 6, so 10 weeks to go!

I ran the Charles Street 12 last weekend so this week was all about easy miles and recovering from the race. That went well until I went and ran all the hills yesterday followed by walking around a maze and fun park for 5 hours. I got in some strength and mobility this morning and now I’m back to focusing on recovery!

If you’re training for a race how many weeks do you have left?

15 miles, over 1,100 feet of elevation gain, and 9 15 miles, over 1,100 feet of elevation gain, and 91% humidity 🫠 Pretty sure that was harder than my race last weekend, but got it done. Now off to my second workout of the day- taking the kids to an outdoor fun park. RIP to my legs.
What are you up to this weekend?
