Is anyone else in disbelief that it’s the last month of the year? Which also means it’s (probably) baby month! While in some ways I feel like I’ve been pregnant forever, I also feel like it’s flown by. November 2018 brought less running but still some decent mileage. I’ve been able to keep up with my workouts which I was happy about. It was also a pretty busy month, with something going on just about every weekend.
Here are my other monthly check-ins from this year:
January 2018
February 2018
March 2018
April 2018
May 2018
June 2018
July 2018
August 2018
September 2018
October 2018
Running in November 2018
I ran about 94 miles in November, which isn’t as high as the last few months but still higher than I would have expected this late in my pregnancy. However, during the last week in November I cut back a lot, and I know December will be much lower.
For the most part running has continued to feel good. The hardest part is drinking enough water to stay hydrated but not so much that I have to go to the bathroom 1 mile into my run. The weather was pretty decent this month, other than that random snow storm we got the week before Thanksgiving.
Strength Training
I’m on Phase 10 of my strength training plan which has been modified for my pregnancy. I’ve cut back on the amount of weight I use and sometimes just use body weight.
Other Workouts in November 2018
I actually walked on the treadmill once this month (which I found even more boring than running on there) and also got back on the spin bike. It’s a little tricky to ride with a bump but I’ve found ways to make it work. I keep saying I’ll do some prenatal yoga, but that still hasn’t happened.
Monthly Goals
I think at this point all my goals have gone out the window, which is to be expected. The one thing I’ve kept up with is tracking my shoe mileage, so I guess that’s a win. Usually around this time of year I’m starting to set goals for the upcoming year. This year I’m just going to let things unfold and see what happens post-baby. There are so many unknowns and while I would love to start planning 2019 races, I just don’t know what’s reasonable at this point!

92 pregnancy miles–especially this late in the pregnancy–is truly amazing! It’s been fun watching you keep up your fitness for the past 9 months. I have no doubt that your delivery is going to go smoothly because of it!

Thank you! It’s been so nice to have so much support on here throughout my pregnancy. Who knows how delivery will actually go but I feel so grateful to have been able to work out this whole time!

You could be the healthy running while pregnant poster child! You’re wise to hold off on goal setting. Too many unknowns for sure. I’ve started to think about what I want to do next year. Getting Tokyo and London done are my first priorities.

You definitely have some exciting things happening in 2019!

I’ve said this before, but I am really impressed by how much you have been able to do these last few weeks. You are ready to have that baby!
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
Haha I’ve been saying I need at least one more weekend to get some things done, then I think I will mentally be ready!

I have one race on my 2019 schedule, and things are up in the air after that. I want to do Vegas again, and I’ll see if I can do it with my new job. It’s probably one of those things I’ll need to talk to my manager in advance. Thankfully she’s a runner too, and gets it.
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
It sounds like you already have some fun things planned for 2019!

Who – 94 miles at the end of your pregnancy is absolutely amazing!! You’ve done a great job with staying active all throughout your pregnancy.
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
Thank you! I feel so lucky to have been able to do all that recently. But now its time to really cut back and prepare for whats to come!

I love how you’re still committed to your strength training program! Getting into strength was one of 2018 goals that didn’t really happen so it’s going to continue on in 2019 as a goal.
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
I hope it goes well for you in 2019!

Walking on the treadmill can be absolutely deadly. In fact that’s what started me running — was way short on steps and couldn’t fathom walking that many miles.
Didn’t realize Garmin had a monthly view. Need to look into that
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
Running is so much better than walking for that reason! Walking outside isn’t as bad, but it does feel like it takes forever to get in a decent amount of steps.
Sarah @ Bucket List Tummy says
I’m glad running is still feeling really good for you!! Totally relate to having to pee early into a run during late pregnancy lol

At my last ultrasound they commented that baby is squishing my bladder…I was like yep haha not at all surprised to hear that!

You had a great month! You ran more than me and I am not even pregnant!! 🙂 November was slow for me. I got sick and now am dealing with an injury. I am hoping that next week I run in a few more states. I already have MT on my calendar.
Lisa @ Mile By Mile says
Sorry November was rough for you! I hope your injury heals quickly. Good luck with your 2019 goal!

I don’t struggle as much with outdoor steps due to my commute. It’s also why I don’t track those calories because it’s nearly as much of my baseline as my BMR. It’s one of many reasons I’d struggle in suburbia
