This seemed like it was the longest short week ever. Looking back on it, it did go quickly but I felt like so much happened. This was also week 24 of running for two. While I’m still feeling good, I’m starting to feel it a little more!
Monday: 7 miles of hills + Strength Training
It was Labor Day which meant a day off from work and more time to run. The goal was to run hills. I was thinking of doing hill repeats but it was just too hot. Instead I just opted for a hilly route. I also got in my first strength training workout of the week.
Tuesday: 5 miles easy + Mobility
I decided to run on the treadmill to keep my run really easy. I felt like if I ran outside it would have been far from easy due to the heat and humidity.
Wednesday: 6 mile Fartlek Run
The heat and humidity continued! This week I changed things up a bit. I did a warm up and then 3 x 5 miles hard/3 minute easy, 4 x 2 minutes hard, 1 minute easy, and a cool down.
Thursday: Strength training + 4 miles
Another treadmill run to get a break from the heat. By this point in the week my legs were feeling the effects of all the workouts.
Friday: 45 minutes Yoga
This was really more of a deep stretching session which was just what my body needed. My mind, however, could have gone for a run. I just couldn’t get into the yoga mindset and instead just kept thinking about all the things I needed to get done. When I run, it helps clear my mind. I struggled with getting out of my own head during this yoga practice.
Saturday: 8 miles
When I started this run it was warm and humid. About a mile in it started raining, which felt good. However, throughout the run the temps dropped and the rain picked up. By the end I was soaked and chilly! It was a strange run. The cooler weather definitely helped my pace, though. My last mile was under 9 minutes which never happens anymore! My overall pace was slower from slower miles at the start including a short walk break in the beginning.
Sunday: Strength Training
This is actually going to count for next week because I should be going away. More on that below.
So what else has been going on at 25 weeks? Heartburn. I started taking Zantac last weekend which has helped a lot. We are also trying to get a bunch of rooms in the house painted preferably because we start setting up the nursery.
This week we had plans to go on our babymoon. We just booked it a few weeks ago because it took awhile to find a location to go to. Unfortunately, our destination is right in the path of Hurricane Florence. We were supposed to go to Kiawah Island, South Carolina so now we are trying to cancel that and find somewhere else to go. Apparently it’s not easy to find a nice hotel 3 days before a trip!
Stay tuned for what we end up doing!
