Runners’ Gift Ideas for the 2022 Holiday Season

It’s that time of year again! Each year in the weeks leading up to Christmas I like to share some runners’ gift ideas. As runners it’s always fun to shop for other runners but also to create our own wish lists (or do some shopping for ourselves!) Hopefully this list of runners’ gift ideas will help you get you started with your holiday shopping. At the end of the post I will also share some links to posts from previous years!

Runners’ Gift Ideas for the 2022 Holiday Season

Brooks Run Visible Insulated Vest

Somehow I have never owned a running vest (at least not in the last 5 years or so) which is kind of unbelievable with all of the running gear I have. This fall I was gifted this Run Visible Vest from Brooks and I’ve been wearing it all the time! It’s perfect for early morning runs and those in-between temperates when you don’t really need a full jacket but want to stay warm.

Polar Heart Rate Monitor Chest Strap

If you have a running watch you may be able to monitor your hear rate using the wrist-based heart rate monitor. However, those readings are not always accurate and sometimes interpret your cadence instead of your heart rate. A chest strap is a much more accurate way to measure your heart rate. The Polar H10 seems like a really high-quality one but there are less expensive ones available too!

Handheld Water Bottle

During the summer I usually bring my hydration pack on long runs, but it’s also really nice to have some smaller options to carry when it’s not super hot or you aren’t doing a really long run. A handheld water bottle is a great option and it’s always good to have a couple around the house!

Massage Gun

I now own 3 massage guns, but my go-to is the TheraGun Mini. While my larger ones work well, I find myself reaching for the mini just because it’s more easily accessible and it still does a really good job!

Coros Pod 2

If you own a Coros running watch, you might want to look into getting this Coros Pod 2! It’s lightweight, water-resistant watch accessory that clips onto your shoe or waistband for better running data accuracy. It measures your run directly from your foot or body movements and connects to your COROS watch to provide real-time data.

Running Socks

Running socks are probably on my wish list (and gift guide) every year, and for good reason! I finally tried Balega socks this year and I can’t believe it took me so long to give them a try. My other favorites are Feetures.

Running Mug

For coffee (or tea) drinkers it can be fun to get a mug related to running. Etsy has so many cute options, including this Strava Map Mug! You can customize it with the stats of a run or race that you want to remember!

Running Gloves

This is another running accessory that I don’t think you can ever have too many of. This year I’ve been loving the Brooks Draft Hybrid Gloves. You can pull the windproof, water-resistant mitt over lightweight, breathable gloves so they are perfect for a wide range of temperatures.

Running While Black

Brooks sent me Running While Black a few weeks ago and I just finished it. I highly recommend this for everyone to read, not just runners. Alison Desir shares her story of how she found running but quickly learned that it was a sport built for white people. As an endurance athlete, activist, and mental health advocate, she explores the history of running and how we can make running a sport that is truly open to everyone.

Running Wine Glass

This runner’s wine glass would make a fun gift for a runner who also enjoys wine! There are many different styles available on places like Amazon and Etsy.

Those running gloves look great! I’ve never really found the right gloves that keep my hands warm in winter. I’m glad you like them, I will look out for them.

It can be really hard to find the right gloves! I like that they are so versatile and I ca use my phone if I need to while wearing them.

I asked for the Coros Pod and I’m hoping it’s as good as it sounds! I really don’t need a new running watch but an upgrade to my current one would be fun:)

    All cute stuff.
I don’t have too much on my list this year, although I wouldn’t mind new shoes.

Fall is pretty good too but there’s nothing like Fall is pretty good too but there’s nothing like seeing the sunrise on a morning run! As an early morning riser I would be fine with a 4am sunrise but I know that’s not for everyone so I will just enjoy the 2 months of the year when the sun is up (almost) as early as me. #morningrunner #sunriserun
Let them be your reason, not your excuse. I coul Let them be your reason, not your excuse.

I could sit here and tell you how hard it is to train with 2 young kids. How I rarely get a full night’s sleep anymore. How they got me sick the week before my race. How my SI joint just isn’t the same since my pregnancies. But that wouldn’t be fair, because I need to listen to my own advice that I give them about how to keep working hard and that there will always be obstacles to overcome.

After my race on Sunday I was thinking about how my Kindergartner has been working for a special award all year long. Many times he has told me he just wants to give up, because he works so hard for months at a time and still hasn’t earned it. I keep telling him that if he keeps working hard he will earn it, but what’s most important is that he gives his best each and every day. All those good days add up and even if he doesn’t earn the award, it will mean he had a great year.

Don’t I need to take my own advice and remember that all the good training days add up, even if I don’t get the outcome I want on race day? Before my race he kept telling me to do my best, and that he would give me a prize (artwork) even if I don’t win. So maybe all the lessons I am teaching him are starting to pay off? #motherrunner #halfmarathon #frederickrunfest
I can pretty much see the humidity as I look back I can pretty much see the humidity as I look back on these videos. After a few days to process my race I am feeling better about how it went and starting to focus on what’s next. I guess it’s officially time to acclimate to the heat and humidity because it’s not getting cooler any time soon! My full recap is up at milebymileblog.com

Have you acclimated to the warmer weather yet?

Happy Medal Monday! This is a unique medal because Happy Medal Monday! This is a unique medal because the middle part is actually a removable pin! So you could take it off and display it somewhere else. What is the most unique medal you have received at a race? #run #halfmarathoner #frederickrunfest #medalmonday
